This book is, in my opinion, one of the most important and significant books for Black peoples worldwide. He asserted the validity of the discreditedBlack Egyptian hypothesisand thatAncient Egyptwas predominantly ablackcivilization.

He is noted for his work on African civilizations prior to encounters with Europeans; his major work is The Destruction of Black Civilization(1971/1974).

A particularly interesting point was made about the hemming in of Africans off of the coastal lands, control of access of intercontinental market exchange (sort of a la Jared Diamond, Guns, Germs, Steel). He asserted the validity of the Black Egyptian hypothesis and that Ancient Egypt was predominantly a black civilization which was accepted by most scholars and rejected by some participants.
