In 2001, Q magazine listed the cover as number 71 in its list of "The Hundred Best Record Covers of All Time". Todd Rundgren states that Steinman was highly influenced by the "rural suburban teenage angst" of Springsteen. In one 1989 interview with Classic Rock magazine, Steinman labeled Todd Rundgren "the only genuine genius I've ever worked with. For all intents and purposes, it's the same master as the standard European pressings around at the time. It's a "this is another Meat Loaf song you may know" situation rather than anything that supplements one's appreciation of the album.

Wow, I never expected such a difference but there it was in all of it's aural glory, much like putting my reading glasses after squinting and straining with text for 20 years, suddenly all was clear. I haven’t heard the Friday Music pressing, but this is head and shoulders better than the Aus 1st pressing I had which sounded like listening to the album out of a tin can. Cosford's background was as the production manager of radio documentaries on The Beatles, Elvis Presley and the 64-hour Evolution of Rock which were in syndication throughout North America. I played half of the title track from my regular release just to have a clear memory of how it sounded and there it was, music and Meat Loaf crumpled into a ball lodged somewhere between the front speakers but it's Bat out of Hell and it's great. The album BAT OUT OF HELL was eventually recorded and quietly released by a minor label, Cleveland International, in 1977. This is Grand Guignol pop - epic, gothic, operatic, and silly, and it's appealing because of all of this. They performed the album live in 1976, with Steinman on piano, Meat Loaf singing, and sometimes Ellen Foley joining them for "Paradise". Ellen Foley, who appears on "Paradise by the Dashboard Light", first met Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman while they were all working together on the National Lampoon Road Tour, [38] so they had a history of performing over-the-top musical comedy sketches together.

These improvements can be heard with modest equipment but I've no doubt the real bonus would be listening to the SACD layer via the necessary equipment. The baseball commentary make-out section performed by New York Yankees announcer Phil Rizzuto was written with the announcer in mind, using phrases he would actually say during commentary.Steinman and Meat Loaf, who were touring with the National Lampoon show, felt that three songs were "exceptional" and Steinman began to develop them as part of a seven-song set they wanted to record as an album. After cleaning with vacuum cleaning device Okki Nokki and Humminguru ultrasonic cleaner no improvement. These again just didn't cut it and the Multichannel version being seen as a 'rush job' to cash in on the launch of SACD.

As it happened the original tapes WERE safe and sound in the Sony vaults and so they were rescued and a brand new remaster was made by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound using the very latest technology, released by a specialist record company Analog Spark and released on the audiophile Hybrid SACD format. This musical contained the songs "Heaven Can Wait", " Bat Out of Hell", and "All Revved Up with No Place to Go". The sticker is different the color is larger font on mine, don't know if they tweeked it but it sounded great to me. Since 1968, [29] Steinman had been working on a magnum opus, which finally opened in 2017 in the form of Bat Out Of Hell: The Musical. Foley was not available when it came time to go on tour for the album, so Karla DeVito took her place. Over the last few months he has disarmed packed rooms of rowdy concert goers, leaving them silent as they hold fast to every syllable sung.
