High-oleic peanuts are only found in certain places, and Pip and Nut source their peanuts from Argentina. Pic’s Peanut Butter also contains high-oleic peanuts, which they source from Australia, and produce in New Zealand. Its saturated fat content is a little higher than Pip and Nut: 6.3g per 100g, compared to 5.8g. This is still much lower than normal peanuts, which have an average of 8.2g saturated fat per 100g. Mould and fungus growth – Peanuts are grown on the ground where they can get moist and acquire mould and fungus. This is linked to allergies, and some moulds found in peanuts can even be a carcinogen. Peanut butter can be healthy in a moderate amount. Here’s an overview of its health benefits and potential negative effects. Health Benefits Hazelnuts, sometimes also called filbert nuts, provide lots of energy and are exceptionally rich in folate. An adequate intake of folate is particularly associated with healthy pregnancies, helping with the spine and brain development of foetuses. Previous research has also linked hazelnut intake with healthy ageing and decreased anxiety levels.

So, with such a wide range of nut butter to choose from, how do you go about deciding which to eat and when? Here, Frida Harju – in-house nutritionist at Lifesum– helps us break down the health pros and cons of each. Pip & Nut Crunchy Peanut Butter is a deliciously moreish blend of golden roasted peanuts, expertly crafted into a creamy, crunchy peanut butter. The simplest peanut butter recipe involves food processing roasted peanuts (which you can do yourself to ensure no extra salt is added) until they form a smooth spread. In fact, a study found 60g of high-oleic peanut butter per day to increase weight only minimally, despite the high increase in calories. To get a better idea about why nut butters have become so popular we spoke to Pippa Murray, founder of nut butter company Pip & Nut. So, what exactly can nut butters bring to our diets? Well, they are incredibly versatile and are a great way of getting fats (the good kind!) and protein into our diets. Pip explains: Meridian Peanut Butter also has a deep roast crunchy peanut butter flavour where the peanuts have been roasted for longer for a richer, more intense flavour.

Almond butter is my personal favourite, a few mornings each week I top up my oatmeal with one tablespoon! Much like peanut butter, almond butter contains plenty of protein, but it also contains more fibre, which not only satisfies hunger, but also improves digestions. In terms of nutrients, almond butter is healthier than peanut butter and is also a good alternative for anyone who is allergic to peanuts, but would like to still have a nutty butter as part of their diet." Although peanuts are best for you when they are consumed in their natural state, there are still benefits to eating peanut butter when trying to manage your weight. Meridian Organic Crunchy Peanut Butter is an all-natural peanut butter that contains natural sugars and flavours for a delicious taste. When you buy a regular jar of peanut butter, there are a few ingredients to look out for which might make your choice of peanut butter less healthy than you might think.Meridian peanut butter is probably healthier since it doesn’t contain any added ingredients. However, some people prefer the taste and consistency of Whole Earth. The choice is up to you! There is also a chocolate peanut butter powder available which is great for adding to smoothies, nutritional bars and for use in baking. Perfect if you have a sweet tooth! The healthiest peanut butter to eat is peanut butter without added sugar and vegetable oil. We have listed several brands that meet these criteria above. What’s the lowest calorie peanut butter in the UK?

An omega 6 to omega 3 ratio of 4:1 is recommended, but for most people in the Western world, this ratio is at least 12:1. Although the fat content of high-oleic peanut butter is higher, the high levels of mono-unsaturated fat mitigate the higher fat content and has little effect upon weight gain. This was found in a study of participants who consumed high-oleic peanuts for 12 weeks. Despite the 60g peanut butter increase in calories, it contributed towards minimal weight gain. More than anything the pandemic emphasised the importance of community and we decided we wanted to use Pip & Nut to directly help our community in East London. If you want to get a smooth texture you could experiment with adding vegetable or olive oil, instead of palm oil.Peanuts have actually been found to have a higher oleic acid content than olive oil. A study also found consuming mono-unsaturated foods such as peanuts and olive oil, diminished the likelihood of cardiovascular disease by 21%. Meridian Coconut and Peanut Butter has the perfect combination of ingredients. It is made with ground coconut and peanuts and a dash of honey for added sweetness. Variety of peanuts – Some varieties of peanuts have a lower calorie content. For example, Virginia peanuts have slightly fewer calories than Valencia peanuts. Creamy peanut butter is perfect for spreading onto toast or adding to baking recipes, as it has a moreish, nutty flavour. From crunchy to smooth and powdered to flavoured, there is something to suit every taste and every tummy! All nuts have slightly different properties and benefits; almonds, for example, are full of magnesium and vitamin B2, which help keep your hair and nails strong and shiny. As well as all the health benefits, nut butters taste delicious and add a real depth of flavour to cooking." Peanut butter is very calorie-dense and is often consumed by bodybuilders trying to gain weight. However, eating moderate amounts of it can be quite helpful if you’re looking to lose weight, as long as you’re eating it as a substitute for even higher-calorie foods. It is especially important that you eat your recommended daily allowance of protein if you live an active lifestyle and like to do lots of exercise. Not all nuts are equal. We select the finest Argentinian peanuts for peanut butter making. They are known as hi-oleic runner peanuts and are naturally sweet; we call them the Queen of Peanuts. High-oleic peanuts are peanuts that contain 30% more mono-unsaturated fat (the good fat) than normal peanuts. This means they can help to lower cholesterol and can be put in the same arena as avocados and olive oil, for maintaining good heart health.
