Description

The USB device that you connected to reported a problem, or there’s a problem with the device driver. There are a few different products available that can serve to bridge the gap between USB-C and DisplayPort. The most simple in design is probably a USB-C to DisplayPort cable, which has one male USB-C end and one male DisplayPort end. The device or dongle you connected to has new features for USB-C that your PC (or phone) doesn’t support. Your PC (or phone) might not provide enough power to the USB device. Plug a power adapter into your USB device, or try to use a different PC (or phone).

To charge faster, your PC (or phone), charger, and cable must all support the industry standards. Your charger and cable must also support the power levels your PC (or phone) requires for the faster charging. For example, if your PC requires 12V and 3A for the fastest charging, a 5V, 3A charger won’t give you the fastest charging. Make sure your PC (or phone), the external display, and the cable all support DisplayPort or MHL alternate modes. The USB device might have limited functionality when connected to this port. Plug the USB device into a different USB port on your PC. For USB Power Delivery, DisplayPort over USB-C cables can provide up to 100 watts. This is convenient for laptop users, as it's possible to maintain your laptop's charge via the connection to the monitor, meaning it's unnecessary to drag the charger around with you.

This USB port doesn't support DisplayPort or Thunderbolt or MHL. Plug the USB device into a different USB port on your PC.

USB-C is a type of industry-standard connector that can be used to transmit both data and power simultaneously. It’s a newer iteration in the USB family of connectors, and is becoming increasingly popular among many of the biggest developers and manufacturers of consumer electronics. Some common products that currently use USB-C connections include Apple MacBooks and Nintendo Switch consoles, just to name a few.USB-C is a powerful connector and is now a part of most ultrathin, compact laptops like MacBook Air, Dell XPS 13, or the Microsoft Surface Laptop 3. This powerful connector allows features like charging your laptop or connecting dongles to read contents from an SD card, among others. The best part is the USB-C’s Alternate Mode, which lets you use the same port to output video to an external display. So if you have an external monitor with a DisplayPort, you can get a USB-C to DisplayPort cable to connect your Mac to it. If you have a USB-C analog audio adapter connected to your PC, unplug it, then connect a USB-C digital audio adapter instead. Dust or dirt inside the USB port on your device prevented the charger from being inserted correctly. One feature consumers tend to love about USB-C connectors is how they can plug in either way—there is no “top” or “bottom”. This eliminates the common irritation many users have experienced in the past with USB or micro-USB connections that must be lined up the correct way to insert.

Similarly, a USB-C to DisplayPort adapter will have a male USB-C connector, but a female DisplayPort plug on the other end. This will allow you to plug an existing DisplayPort cable into the female end of the adapter to make a connection. I don't have other type-c monitors to test so I can't really determine if the issue is with the type-c cable or the monitor not supporting it. So if anyone was successful with using a bidirectional cable for this monitor, please tell me!! Or if there is a way to fix this somehow, please tell me as well! Select the Start button, then type device manager and select Device Manager from the list of results. The most common scenario where you may require a USB-C to DisplayPort connector is when you want to connect a device with a USB-C output to a video display such as a computer monitor. For example, devices such as MacBooks, Chromebooks, or other laptops may use a USB-C port to send out audio and video, but your computer monitor may only support either HDMI or DisplayPort input connections. In this case a USB-C to DisplayPort cable, hub, or adapter will allow you to connect the two devices with ease. Types of USB-C to DisplayPort Connectors

Interfaces

Dust or dirt inside the USB port on your device might be preventing the charger from being inserted correctly. Make sure the device or dongle is connected to the USB-C port on your PC (or phone) that supports the correct Alternate Mode. For example, if you're connecting a Thunderbolt Alternate Mode device, make sure you connect to the USB-C port that supports Thunderbolt. The Alternate Mode feature must be supported on the PC or phone's hardware and software, and the connected device or dongle. You might also need a specific USB-C cable.

Terms Apply. Promotion ends 3 December 2023. Items are subject to availability. Max 5 units per customer. The best part is that it’s available in three lengths – 3ft, 6ft, and 10ft. This gives you the flexibility of setting up your monitor is as per your convenience and preference. Chargers that don't have a standard USB Type-C connector might use a proprietary, nonstandard connector that your PC (or phone) doesn’t support.Make sure the device or dongle is connected to the USB-C port on your PC that supports the features of the device or dongle. For example, if you're connecting a Thunderbolt device, make sure it’s connected to the USB-C port on your PC that supports Thunderbolt. Will DisplayPort over USB-C provide the same level of performance and features as the standard DisplayPort connection? Your PC (or phone) is providing power to other devices, so it has temporarily limited the power it provides to the device you just connected to. The MHL Alternate Mode lets you project video and play audio on an external display that supports MHL. Keeping all your devices working together in perfect harmony sometimes requires just the right cable to make two ends meet. When the growing popularity of USB-C meets the PC-standard presence of a DisplayPort connection, a USB-C to DisplayPort connector can bridge the gap and help keep your entertainment and productivity flowing smoothly.
