Photography newbies may have a bit of trouble with the fact that there’s not a green labeled auto mode. You have to turn the shutter speed dial, aperture dial, and ISO dial to the A position for that. But, the XT5 isn’t designated as an entry-level camera, and photographers familiar with manual mode will probably love the simple labeled controls for shutter speed and ISO. And while slowing the mechanical burst to 10fps effectively gave me unlimited JPEG bursts, I could still only capture 20 uncompressed RAW files at this speed before the camera slowed. In contrast the X-H2 captured 136 uncompressed RAWs at 15 fps using a CF Express card or 68 with SD. The X-T5 is driven by the same NP-W235 battery as the X-T4 and X-H2 series. Thanks to better power efficiency the expected life is upped to 580 shots per charge, a decent increase over the 500 pictures you can expect from the X-T4. The Canon EOS R7 does better with a 660-shot rating, though we'll note that in all cases you'll likely get more pictures per charge. And if you use high-speed burst modes you'll get thousands easily. Headlining is the fifth-generation 40.2MP sensor and the high-speed image processing engine “X-Processor 5,” in a compact body which is smaller and lighter than the XT4.

Fujifilm X-T5 in-depth review - Digital Photography Review

Though two notable exceptions (for me) from that list are the landscapers favourite XF10-24 and the XF16-80, a popular “kit” lens and perfect focal range for travel. That said, there are alternatives with the XF8-16 and the XF16-55. My only color complaint is auto white balance. The updated algorithm works really well outdoors and indoors. But when shooting indoor portraits with flash the white balance is more inconsistent. You’ll want to select a specific white balance in this scenario rather than auto. The new X-T5 is virtually identical to its predecessor, retaining all of the traditional dials and controls that Fuji users have come to know and love, including the classic Fujifilm ISO, Shutter Speed and Exposure Compensation dials on top of the camera. The camera is equipped with a high-magnification 3.69-million-dot EVF, the same as the XT4, but with a higher 0.8x magnification, the same as the XH2. There is a slight reduction in base ISO from 160 to 125. If, like me, you use Auto ISO you’ll be pleased to know the shutter speed can be set up to 1/8000 second rather than 1/500 on the XT4. Great for any fast action shots. Let’s start with the interval timer, which automatically captures one to 999 or indeed infinite images until you stop it, at intervals of one second to 24 hours. The drive options are also inherited from the X-H2, albeit on the X-T5 coupled with less buffer memory and the inability to use fast CF Express cards to clear it. As such the top speeds are the same but you’ll be taking fewer images in a burst.

Paring the best accessories with the Fujifilm X-T5 can elevate your photography experience, allowing for more creative freedom and efficient production. From lens filters to camera straps, the right accessory can make a big difference in the quality of your shots and overall satisfaction with the camera. Whether you’re a seasoned photographer or just starting out, choosing the right accessories for your Fuji X-T5 can greatly enhance your creative journey. We really have to say this: this is a weird problem. When working with the photos with the new firmware update in Capture One, we didn’t find that shadows were a problem. To clarify further, we also used the settings that Fujifilm referred to. At first glance the X-T5 body looks a lot like the X-T4, with an almost identical control layout from the front, top and rear, but place them side by side and you’ll notice the 5 is a little shorter and narrower, albeit still not quite as slim as the older X-T3. The screen articulation has always been a bone of contention for Fujifilm owners. Some prefer the speed and discretion of a simple vertical tilt, whether they’re shooting stills or filming video behind the camera, while the side angle option does at least allow more comfortable shooting at unusual angles in the portrait orientation. The resulting images are automatically combined into one DNG RAW file, which can then be output to a desired file format using suitable RAW processing software. Most photographers choose Fujifilm because of their color profiles — myself included. The colors are still intact here. My running favorite is still Astia because of the way it renders skin tones and creates a soft look without the awful overexposed tendency of a “light and airy” edit. The colors worked universally well moving from portraits to a colorful dance floor. Both cameras can also be powered and charged via a USB-C connection, which is useful if you're out and about and have a compatible power-bank to plug the camera into. Vertical Battery Grip

Its buffer is on the slim side; it's good for around 25 Raw or 110 JPGs with the mechanical shutter at 15fps, and does a bit better with the 20fps e-shutter (30 Raw, 150 JPG). A pre-burst electronic shutter mode is available too. The electronic viewfinder displays a preview of the image with shooting data.

Its silhouette is a bit larger and a front-facing LCD was added to meet the wants and needs of videographers. To be clear, you will see a difference versus the 26mp sensor whichever lens you use but the optimum results will be seen when using the red badge or newest lenses that are optimized to get the best out of the higher resolution sensor. If 6.2K video is too much for your needs, you can instead make use of the 4K 60p option, which will enable you to use this footage at half speed for a high resolution slow motion effect. The one downside of recording 4K 60p is that there is a slight crop factor so if you want a wider view, you’ll have to use a wider focal length. Image Quality Ghosting artefacts are still present in the 160MP version, but less intense and spread out over a larger area. The sea is rendered more convincingly, at least. The X-T5 drops the forward-facing screen in favor of the dual-hinge style from the X-T3, and sizes down its frame without sacrificing in-body stabilization. It comes in at 3.6 by 5.1 by 2.5 inches (HWD) and 1.2 pounds without a lens. It's a little smaller all around versus the X-T4 (3.7 by 5.3 by 2.6 inches, 1.3 pounds).
