Description

Einstar is a handheld scanner that is great for scanning human-sized or large objects. With its non-rigid algorithm and large scanning range, Einstar can scan outdoors with ease. Its cost-effectiveness makes it a great choice for those on a budget.

Format (ASC): No texture, data type is optimized point-cloud, saves as Scan.asc, recommended for inspection, fast export and post process. The scanner is suitable for various applications including design, digital archiving, education, culture and arts, VR and AR. In addition, Einstar supports multiple data format outputs compatible with 3D printers and 3D design software. Thanks to three infrared VCSEL projectors, two stereo depth cameras and one RGB camera, Einstar even allows clean and stable 3D scanning in the great outdoors! Because no projector light is used during the scanning process, Einstar is also safe for the human eye! The scanner is also equipped with a “hair mode”: this can capture the texture of the hair with ease. But why use both scanners together? While EinScan-SE can also scan large objects, and Einstar can also scan small objects. Their strengths are best utilized in their respective areas. To prove this point, our application engineer conducted a test. In conclusion, EinScan-SE and Einstar are complementary scanners that work well together to meet all your scanning needs. Whether you need to scan small objects or large ones, these scanners will give you the highest quality data.

The infrared light source of Einstar is friendly to human eyes. The Hair Mode helps to acquire more hair data, and shows the 3D data with authentic colors. It only took about 3 minutes 54 seconds to acquire the 3D data of the human body. The software was easy to use. The online manual was a little hard to find but super informative, and it really helped me to be successful right out of the box. This article will help you decide if you need an upgrade of your current configuration, or if you can run it without any hardware changes.

We were overall very impressed with the scanner throughout our hands-on testing sessions. The Einstar is a powerful and truly easy-to-use device. Its intuitive software includes a range of professional-grade features that make for an enjoyable experience for both beginners and more advanced users.

We used the hole-filling tool to fix a few areas that were hard to reach with the scanner. You can manually fill each hole and use different parameters for each hole, or use the auto feature. We used the automatic hole-filling tool and it worked nicely- even on a pretty big area (see the video below). Objects with few, flat faces, like a box. Objects that are too flat do not have enough features for the scanner to base itself on. Before the scanner and software actually start capturing data, there’s a preview mode that shows what the camera sees (top left corner) and what the scanner captures (center of the screen). Objects that are too simple, like a vase. Again, since the vase looks the same from all around it, the scanner wouldn’t be able to differentiate one side from another. Since face 3D scanning is one of Einstar’s key use cases, we just had to try it out. We scanned a friend, Julien, in portrait mode and got an amazing result in 0.5mm resolution.

The Einstar can capture colors as well thanks to its onboard cameras; this used to be an expensive add-on on some of the previous EinScan 3D scanners. To make the Einstar more accessible, unlike other EinScan models where we perform accuracy tests on each scanner, we perform random accuracy tests on the Einstar. However, each calibration plate of the Einstar in glass material, which assures the stabality and consistency, is measured in the SAME way as a professional scanner to help Einstar achieve submilimeter accuracy. Users can control good results from their scan data by calibrating with the Einstar when needed. Einstar infrared light source, certificated as Class 1 laser product, is safe under all conditions of normal use.

Finally, copy theactivation filetothecomputer without internet access and import it to the EXStar software, then offline activation is done! With 3 infrared VCSEL projectors, Einstar can capture clear scan data and generate stable outputs outdoor. EXStar prompts you to hold the scanner at different distances and angles from the plate. If you are new to 3D scanner calibration processes, you might need to get the hang of some of the angles. Make sure you follow the same movement shown on the software interface. Professional scanners usually have a high level of accuracy. When accuracy is a key factor in your application, it is always worth investing in a professional scanner. A less expensive scanner can also be the right choice to provide good data for your purposes. Choose the right scanner for your application, not just based on a spec sheet.
