I'm talking about the perfume from the 80s, which is still in my collection, I know it was reformulated several times, but the first Kuros is a monster, it was made when men were men) In my personal case, I have to be in the right mood to wear this one; it is the most masculine fragrance I own, I wear it those days I want a confidence boost or when it is a special occasion and going to wear a classical elegant suit. This is the shit you smelled like 24/7, and didn't even put any on. It is the essence of the mid-late 60's thru early-mid 80's generation of kids who were forced to drink from the waterhose, be in by street lights, and forced to go straight to the shower because you smelled like a rhinoceros I recently bought some vintage bottles of Kouros, 1 x 10ml 1981 or 82 and 5 X 50ml 1999. I haven't yet received the 1981 but will update once I have, though upon smelling the 1999 and wearing it a number of times, I think a very, very similar effect can be achieved with a good base layer of sak pase and a top layer of the man silver, getting the best of both worlds. There is a slight difference which I think comes from the drydown of the man silver, but the honeyed musks really come through from the sak pase, so you have an almost authentic (though actually stronger projecting) scent at a fraction of the price. From what I have read from others who describe the very early Kouros, I wonder if they actually might be closer than this comparison. We will see. I can see how it required hard work, commitment and dedication this effort to resurrect a Lazarus-Kouros which was a walking dead in the last few years.

The choice of a perfume has as much to do with the regional culture as with one’s preferences. It is even much more controlled by existing social codes than by desires believed to be one’s own. pierre bourdon

Even after more than 40 years after the release of this monolithic perfume, I’ll easily recognize Kouros from the masses of copycats. He tells me that he had to leave the pied nest of our childhood. Also, to be able to pursue his interests for the same sex, without spies behind the curtain. He tells about the pain he had to suffer because of his inclination in the small town and in the family and that's why he decided to stay in the city after graduation. I mean, between the original and the Fraicheur, in the original sometimes less is more, and with the Fraicheur more is more !! Both are great. Wait, there was what....A mirage? Supposed to happen when it's over 35 degrees in the shade. A man, as if in slow motion, floats past us. That smell coming from him, I know that smell. Printed grey Kouros name along with brand and oil concentration is found on the front of the bottle. The bottle design is everything Saint Laurent stood for, thus I’m quite fond of it.

Once, I could imagine gyms and casual scenarios where Ysl Kouros would fit like bread and butter, due to its original idea as a celebration of the male body, and bodybuilding. You either love Kouros or you hate it. There is seldom an in-between. But for those who feel Kouros is too difficult to bear or find themselves wishing for a lighter Kouros, Fraicheur is it.Also, I recently used it in a day where I went to the gym. I thought the smell would have already gone, but as soon as I started sweating the fragrance just came out of nowhere to the point I got "noticed" and heard a comment.

Nonetheless, I forked out big time on the stuff I do have now but I am glad that I did because as much as its great to be able to recreate a fragrance, there is nothing quite like the 'real thing' and I think this may be a bigger factor in perception than people may realise. Nonetheless, Kouros is the best fragrance I have ever, and ever will smell to be honest. It is unique and bold and I don't care if anyone else does or does not like it. KING. Kouros Silver – a woody aromatic fragrance released in 2015. The main notes include Sage, Amber, and Apple. The lasting power is 8 – 10 hours with great projection. I adore the beautiful opening; it's floral, ashy, with the right amount of fresh citrus, full of personality. It's like a colorful island with a volcano on it. But it gets dark in the drydown, the civet note is prominent and it smells dirty. The problem for me is that it lasts a really long-time, and I don't think 2 hours of the opening/mid I like is worth 8 hours of the drydown I dislike.Long working day coupled with an excessive afterwork, then still (what was her name again) conquest on the other side of the bed, got up much too late, no time for shower.
