Description

I think this book would be enjoyed by those that enjoy thrillers but maybe were ready for a bit of a fantastical twist. Andrew compliments her cooking and invites her to join them, but she declines, as Nina seems irritated. So now the daughter is hoping to find someone who was there when the mother was, to try to find an explanation as to why she was abandoned. Disgusted and terrified of this naked threat, Ruby then learns of the mysteries that haunt Highwood Hall, and why no maid in the past 21 years had stayed for longer than a year or two at the place.

The Housemaid Summary and Study Guide | SuperSummary

It's a gruesome miniature doll in her likeness, trapped inside a dollhouse, lying in a pool of blood. On her first day, strange things begin to happen to her-including receiving a diorama depicting her death. While it is impossibly difficult to compensate for what is lost when an enigma is solved, the author does a great job of ensuring it naturally leads to a better understanding of the peril our characters are in, consequently raising the threat level by increments until the climax.

The simple narration, good pacing and the general vibe – all perfect to kill some time with, especially if you don’t expect from your thrillers to be perfectly plausible, life changing experiences. There's a general atmosphere of unease at Highwood Hall, from the narrow tunnels laced throughout the sprawling house, to the abandoned north wing, rumoured to be haunted. For understandable reasons, finding employment has become quite difficult for her and she can’t afford to be picky with the jobs coming her way.

The Housemaid Series in Order by Freida McFadden - FictionDB

Not wanting Millie to bear the consequences of something she tricked her into doing, Nina asks her to leave. A cleverly plotted mystery with an incredibly dark twist, The Housemaid is also a narrative on the British class systems and the value we place on human life. There's another reason she wants to work there---her mother worked there, about 20 years earlier, shortly before she abandoned her and left her to be raised by her aunt.If you’re a fan of thrillers capable of keeping you guessing and on your toes from start to finish, then this novel is definitely one which belongs in your collection. The non-linear narration and artistic reveal of plot twists made this for a delicious thriller to rea on a cold December evening. She has written a number of bestselling psychological and medical thrillers, as well as some more lighthearted and humorous books. There’s a general atmosphere of unease at Highwood Hall, from the narrow tunnels laced throughout the sprawling house, to the abandoned north wing, rumored to be haunted.
