Luna lives in a world where the majority of the population has an implant allowing them access to a virtual world. Everyone learns, lives, plays and interacts in this virtual world. Luna is one of few “Refusers”, who choose not to have an implant and do things the old way, like learn in a physical classroom with physical teachers. When she does enter the virtual world, we discover that she has a dangerous secret: she is aware of both the virtual world and the real world around her. I felt annoyed by a grown woman in a serious book talking to an imaginary friend; it was more the sort of thing you’d expect in a light comedy tv show. There wasn’t really any romance in this one, other than Luna stating categorically that she was not going to have a relationship with her best friend’s boyfriend, just because they were in the same place together. Lardone A, Liparoti M, Sorrentino P, et al. Mindfulness meditation is related to long-lasting changes in hippocampal functional topology during resting state: A magnetoencephalography study. Neural Plast. 2018;2018:5340717. doi:10.1155/2018/5340717 The plot is really similar to other dystopian books. At first I was quite enjoying reading Mind games to be honest, even if it wasn't the most original read, it was quite entertaining. However at some point I started noticing all its flaws.

The faith thread is the “bones” of the story because Kaely truly relies on God through all the difficulties. Yet Ms. Mehl portrays her as a flawed person who is functioning well at her job as an FBI profiler. Jane MacGuire has begun to be plagued by dreams of a girl that she feels that she should know but just can't quite grasp who this is that has been visiting her night after night. Jane does know one thing however and that is she feels this girl is in some kind of trouble and needs Jane's help. Drawing out the scenes of what she's seen in her dreams of the girl and her surroundings Jane is determined to find out just who the girl is and what she needs.Source: I received a digital copy of this book for free on a read-to-review basis. Thanks to Hachette Children's Books and NetGalley.) Only this pest is reaching out to Jane through her drawings and dreams. Jane would like to help her since she seems to be in dire straits, but she is not giving Jane much to go on.

Oh my goodness! This was such a good read. I loved how the author made the book fairly long without seeming draggy AT ALL (I mean, I read it in one day. ONE DAY.). It was definitely very well paced. I really enjoyed the murder mystery. I have a tendency to dislike murder-related / creepier stories because they CREEP THE CREEPS OUT OF ME, but I think this one was done well. There was one creepy part, but it was very... lightly creepy. Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to review this book and discover an author I never need to squander my time on. Ok. I’ll try to pull myself together here and give you helpful information. (But seriously, y’all, wow.) The ending to this had lots of twists, and it was these that definitely bumped up the rating on this one for me. The slowness of this story made it a three, but the twists made it a 4.Slutningen var til gengæld barsk og uforudset og jeg vil så gerne kunne sige, at det gjorde bogen hammer god og fantastisk, men faktisk var det så chokerende, at jeg måtte lukke bogen i og tage et par dybe vejrtrækninger før jeg kunne fortsætte - så vær forberedt... Well, honestly, what draws me to FBI and procedural novels is the solving the crimes. I got some fun in this respect, but the author takes a shortcut to the solution by have Kaely have the ability to “summon” the culprits to a supper discussion and interview them to learn more about this. This was honestly creepy and gross and I can’t agree with Kaely that it is ever proper for a Christian to consort with evil in a fashion like that. Spiritual warfare is driving it away, not calling it closer.
