There really aren’t many cons to the Expedition Scout, but in a perfect world, the case would be a little slimmer. It doesn’t bother me when wearing it, but from a pure design perspective, it looks a little bulky. Similar to the Timex Expedition Scout, the Citizen Chandler Field Watch brings a rugged and comfortable design to the table. While the inspiration of the military watch is undeniable, Citizen managed to infuse the Chandler with a more chic and casual appeal. For me, this isn’t a deal breaker. It’s not loud enough to be heard over talking volume, and if you put it in a case or drawer, you’re golden. Yes, Timex is a reliable and affordable brand that delivers quality timepieces for all occasions. The Timex Expedition Scout watch is an especially great choice if you're looking for a durable outdoor watch with water resistance features. Additionally, it offers great value for its price point. What is Timex Indiglo? The subtle design of the Marathon GPM gives it more versatility in application as it fits nicely with your casual everyday attire. This timepiece also focuses on a more practical design with its luminous Margalo-coated (tritium gas valve) hands and markers and a durable fiber-shell casing.

The Seiko 5 Automatic is a no-frills field watch that goes straight to the point. It is incredibly tough, has excellent accuracy, and is quite affordable. Bertucci A-3P Sportsman Vintage Field Watch (13351) The Expedition Scout has a basic design, with a round watch face in an analog style. There are different colors from which to choose for the watch face, and the hand colors vary along with the watch face color. Timex watchesaren’t the best of what’s available in the affordable watch segment, but they’re also far from the worst. In fact, my collection has so many Timex’s because I’ve come to appreciate them as inexpensive and robust timepieces that can stand up to what I do in a day and can last for years without complaints. The Timex wing of my watch collection is now home to eight watches, with several modern quartz Timex staples – the Weekender, Weekender Chrono, and Expedition Field Chronograph– sitting beside numerous vintage Timex automatics. The collection is a mixture of old and new, and I think showcases the best from one of one of America’s most enduring watch brands. Tudor is a brand that is synonymous with heritage and prestige. Tudor brings their experience and places it within a 41mm hard steel case fortress. Of course, you can expect Tudor to throw in some visual flourishes in there as well, this time in the form of a domed sapphire crystal window.

You can get the Expedition Field Scout in 36mm or 40mm. Aside from the different case size, the two are functionally identical and nearly identically styled.

Orient’s Defender watch was a surprising entry from the manufacturer into the field watch market. Well, the jury is in, and Orient indeed passed the test with flying colors. So well that we included the upgraded model, Orient Defender 2, in this list.

Pros & Cons

The time markings are applied, and there are actually Arabic numeral markings for hours 1-12, with the addition of an inner circle with military time hour markings. The face of the watch is easily legible in normal daylight, but it doesn’t really have any improvements that help you see the time clearly in really bright sunlight. This Timex WS4 is powered by quartz movement for reliable and accurate timekeeping. It also has a 50m water resistance rating.

What I tend to like most about Timex are how competitively priced its watches are and the level of functionality built into the price. Their Engineer II Chronometer is an outstanding example of what a complete field watch can deliver. It doesn’t have the best lume or the most luxurious straps, but it is a really good watch for the price. It’s a perfect gift for your annoying teenager and a great going-away present for a sibling who’s heading to college. Also, it’s a must-have for any collector because it really embodies the Timex design. But also because of how insanely popular it is. The high price tag, though, means that this field watch might be too steep for most. For enthusiasts, though, the IWC Spitfire offers something that can be well worth the price of admission. Tudor Heritage Ranger Automatic Watch (79910) The second hand is actually shaped like an arrow, making it easy to read and to follow if you’re using it as a timer. The hour and minute hands look like swords. This rugged timepiece offers reliable performance and classic styling at an attractive price point – but does it live up to its reputation? Read on our Timex expedition scout review to find out! The watch features a tough brass metal case and a mineral crystal that can withstand the rigors of daily wear and tear. Whether you're hiking up a mountain, traversing through a forest, or just navigating the hustle and bustle of city life, the Timex Expedition Scout Watch proves its resilience.

The Expedition Ranger Solar is an eco-friendly model that utilizes solar power to keep the watch running. It's a practical choice for those who spend a lot of time outdoors, as it continually recharges itself in light. Lastly, the Expedition Katmai Combo is a unique offering with an analog-digital display. This watch is ideal for adventurers who need comprehensive timekeeping capabilities, including a 24-hour countdown timer, alarm, and second time zone. Additionally, the stainless-steel material used on the construction of the case has hypoallergenic qualities for those who have sensitive skin. The Field force also has 100-meter water resistance, making it a suitable timepiece for recreational marine activities such as swimming and snorkeling. Lum-Tec Combat B45 GMT Watch Instead, this watch is for those who like a basic timepiece that looks good, and with a durable brass metal case, it’s rugged enough for some outdoor adventures. We are now at the luxury end of our field watch list, and the IWC Spitfire delivers a level of prestige to this otherwise rough and tumble watch type. We like how the IWC Spitfire went with a more rugged and casual aesthetic with its khaki green strap and stainless-steel case.

Specifications

The Timex Expedition collection boasts a variety of models, each tailored to different needs and styles. The Expedition Scout is a popular choice for its rugged durability and classic design, as described above. The Expedition Field Chronograph offers more technical features, including a chronograph that measures up to 1/20th of a second. With its military-inspired design, it's perfect for those who appreciate a balance of style and function. The Timex Expedition Scout Watch's water-resistance level is a notable attribute of this robust timepiece.
