Description

The degrading profile hurts while none of the weapon options are punchy enough, meaning it's flimsy and weak, rather than being a glass cannon. It's also too expensive, meaning it's use as a cheap unit for secondary scoring/board control/screen clearing etc. doesn't math out. This article is about the Space Marine content since GW’s reveal contained a lot of actionable information, but I wanted to show off just how RIDICULOUSLY GORGEOUS the Necron models are. Credit: Warhammer Community The only Dedicated Transport available, the Impulsor only carries 6 Primaris models i.e. a 5 man squad and a character and cannot transport Mk X Gravis armored models. However, with the Assault Vehicle ability, Impulsors may move and disembark their unit, unlike many other transports. So, unlike the Repulsors, troops may disembark and charge after the Impulsor has completed a Normal Move. Skilled Riders – 1CP –When your opponent shoots a BIKER, LAND SPEEDER, or STORM SPEEDER unit that Advanced in your turn, make them -1 to hit until the end of the phase. It’s ok but a serious downgrade, and requiring you to advance to use it is rough for a lot of chapters for what you get now. B- Honour the Chapter – 2CP –A unit of Assault Intercessors can fight again at the end of the Fight phase. Tying this specifically to Assault Intercessors (not even INTERCESSOR in general, stopping you using it with Veteran Intercessors or Death Company Intercessors for some reason) hurts it a lot, but Assault Intercessors aren’t bad at all and if you get a reasonable number of them into combat, getting to fight twice is a worthwhile use of 2CP against the right target. B- mostly because of its limited targets.

For even more anti-infantry firepower, the storm bolters and autolaunchers may be swapped out for fragstorm grenade launchers. One of your ironhail heavy stubbers may also be changed out for an onslaught gatling cannon. One of the few vehicles able to Transport Primaris Marines, Repulsors carry up to 10. They may even transport Primaris in Mk X Gravis armor, but they take up 2 spots. However, transport is not the primary purpose of Repulsors. Just look at the shooting options!

Now, for new players, vehicles use the same stat lines as infantry with Strength, Toughness, Wounds, and all the other statistics. In terms of game mechanics, they work much like infantry. However, unlike simple infantry, they have a Damage Chart. As a vehicle suffers unsaved Wounds, their capabilities decrease in some areas. For example, let’s look at the Storm Speeder Hammerstrike below.

Hero of the Chapter – 1CP –Use before the battle if your Warlord has the Adeptus Astartes keyword. One ADEPTUS ASTARTES CHARACTER (excluding named characters) can be given a Warlord Trait. You can only use this once per game in Combat Patrol/Incursion, twice in Strike Force, and three times in Onslaught. As with relics you can’t have duplicate traits or double up on traits on one guy. Kill Teams and how to abuse them: Almost all the best units for dealing damage in the Deathwatch Faction share the Kill Team keyword, which allows them to double up on stratagem usage. From the baseline Deathwatch Veterans squad to the monstrous Proteus and Indomitor Kill Teams, there’s something here for every role.

Varied playstyles. You can completely change the character of a Space Marine army simply by changing which supplement it draws its rules from. Storm Speeder Hammerstrike - An anti-armour, anti-trench, and anti-bunker specialist variant, armed with a Hammerstrike Launcher, Krakstorm Grenade Launchers, and a Melta Destroyer. [1] [2b]

Not currently, no. My local meta has favored T3 and T4 hordes with a smattering of TEQ armies; the combo of Plasma, Blast, Fly, and T5 has made inceptors just crazy efficient for me, and normal bikes/outriders can fill the screen clearing/board control role about as good as the ATV can. If you’re a fan of the Iyanden Craftworld, you’re going to love this one. With Wraithguard having dropped to 35 points per model and Wraithblades to 37, you can field them in much greater numbers than before and watch as they silently and efficiently annihilate your enemies. Genestealers and Purestrain Genestealers Forged in Battle: Each time a unit shoots or fights, you can re-roll one wound roll, and opponents cannot re-roll wound rolls against you (as of the Balance Dataslate). A solid tactic still, making your weapons a little more reliable and your models a little tougher to dakka off the board. The Burning Blade: Replaces power swords (of either regular or master-crafted flavour) with a weapon that gives S+3, AP-5, D2. Combined with Imperium’s Sword, you can have a guy charging around at S8 with this. Very competitive with a power fist or hammer now, especially with the AP-5 meaning that targets without invulnerable saves will simply melt away. B+ Did any of those buffs sound like they’d be good on Desolation Marines? That’s hardly surprising. Range Extensions and Additional AP or Anti-Infantry 2+ resolve most of the issues that unit has, and turn them into truly a take all comers threat. Chapter Master • Master of the Keep • Master of Sanctity • Chief Librarian • Master of the Apothecarion • Master of the Forge • Master of the Watch • Master of the Fleet • Master of the Arsenal • Master of the Marches • Master of the Rites • Master of Relics • Chief Victualler • Lord Executioner • Master of Recruits • Master of Reconnaissance • Master of the Signal • Chapter Ancient • Primaris Ancient • Chapter Champion • Honour Guard Land Raider/Land Raider Crusader/Land Raider Redeemer/Land Raider Proteus (FW)/Land Raider Achilles (FW)

There are thirteen Chapters with Chapter Tactics listed in the Space Marines codex. These traits apply to all units except SERVITOR and BEAST units. The traits are as follows: Dark Angels Note that in the list below we are usually going to skip the ‘ADEPTUS ASTARTES’ keyword unless it’s the only one the stratagem targets or it’s otherwise important. Just bear in mind that all of these are restricted to ADEPTUS ASTARTES units – you can’t use Steady Advance on a squad of allied Guardsmen or whatever. Also, you’ll probably notice that a lot of the letter grades here are hovering around in the Bs and As – that reflects some much better stratagem design, with a lot more stuff which is at least situationally useful or ‘if your plan needs it’ instead of there being a few good stratagems and then a lot of space-filler. Battle Tactic Stratagems The new Space Marine codex due next month (along with the Necron codex which is full of amazing models, just look above) looks like it’s going to merge and update a lot of content while also providing new Primaris units. In addition to those shown in previous reveals like the Invader ATV and the Gladiator tank Saturday’s Codex Show revealed new Gravis units, an updated rule for melta weapons, and the Storm Speeder Hammerstrike. GW provided rules for several of these units so we have a chance to look at how effective they’ll be. Scions of the Forge. Models with this trait that have a damage table always count as having twice the number of wounds remaining for the purposes of their stats on the table. Fine but if you want this, you really should just play Iron Hands, where the other half of their tactic complements this better than anything else in the Successor list. C But what’s all this talk of ‘command protocols’? Well, consider it one of the perks of biotransference which enables Necrons of high status to impose their will upon those who serve them. It may sound harsh, but don’t worry – for you, this is definitely a good thing! Here’s how it works…

Storm Speeder Hailstrike - An anti-barricade and infantry variant [2a], armed with an Onslaught Gatling Cannon, two Ironhail Heavy Stubbers, and a pair of Fragstorm Grenade Launchers. [1]
