The way Oseman dealt with the difficult subject matter throughout the series has been done amazingly and notably for me, within this book. As someone who has dealt with self-harm and depressive episodes, I appreciate the way this was handled in the book more than I can explain. It wasn't brushed aside as "oh love can fix all" but the lines throughout highlighting that mental illness and healing, while yes aided by loved ones and therapists, is a self-healing journey that cannot be magically fixed, it won't just go away, sometimes we do need therapy, sometimes in-patient doesn't work for people... just everything was beautifully done. I think I'm in love with Charlie. This summer with him and our friend has been amazing, and I want to say 'I love you', but... I guess I've had other things to worry about lately... 💜 I do want to note, however, that this book doesn't shy away from content matter and may be extremely triggering for individuals. If you arent in a good headspace or part of your mental health journey I do want to warn you to go into this one with the utmost caution.

Stand by his side, even when things are hard. But also knowing that sometimes people need more support than just one person can give 💜 Absolutely delightful. Sweet, romantic, kind. Beautifully paced.
