J.M. Kenoyer (2006), "Cultures and Societies of the Indus Tradition. In Historical Roots" in the Making of ‘the Aryan’, R. Thapar (ed.), pp. 21–49. New Delhi, National Book Trust. Stoneware clay: Suitable for creating stoneware. Has many of the characteristics between fire clay and ball clay, having finer grain, like ball clay but is more heat resistant like fire clays. History by region [ edit ] Beginnings of pottery [ edit ] Xianren Cave pottery fragments, radiocarbon dated to circa 18,000 BC, China [57] [58] Pottery bowl from Jarmo, Mesopotamia, 7100–5800 BC.

Low-fire clays are great for bright colors and detailed decoration. But they're not super good in water, so if you do go for low-fire clay, get a glaze that you know will seal 'er up. Pottery is durable, and fragments, at least, often survive long after artifacts made from less-durable materials have decayed past recognition. Combined with other evidence, the study of pottery artefacts is helpful in the development of theories on the organisation, economic condition and the cultural development of the societies that produced or acquired pottery. The study of pottery may also allow inferences to be drawn about a culture's daily life, religion, social relationships, attitudes towards neighbours, attitudes to their own world and even the way the culture understood the universe. Mesolithic, also called Middle Stone Age, is an intermediate cultural stage between the Paleolithic (Old Stone Age) which had chipped stone tools and Neolithic (New Stone Age) with polished stone tools. The Mesolithic hunter gatherers had better efficiency than Paleolithic with ability to more diverse range of animal and vegetable food sources. [4]

Kintsugi can relate to the Japanese philosophy of mushin ( 無心, "no mind"), which encompasses the concepts of non-attachment, acceptance of change, and fate as aspects of human life. [14] Malwa culture was a Chalcolithic archaeological culture which existed in the Malwa region of Central India and parts of Maharashtra in the Deccan Peninsula. It is mainly dated to c. 1600– c. 1300 BCE, [64] but calibrated radiocarbon dates have suggested that the beginning of this culture may be as early as c. 2000-1750 BCE. [65] the unique aspect of the Malwa culture is they do not use potter's wheel instead the whole process is done by hand. [66] Jorwe culture (1000 - 700 BCE) in Maharashtra [ edit ]
