Fresh lemons are easy to come by, and the acidic power of citrus can work wonders. Baking soda and lemons are two natural cleaners that can remove stains from plastic.

This process to remove yellow from yellowed plastic can takes some manual labor, but it does work on plastics that are white. An added benefit is that it does not require the use of any dangerous chemicals. You will need the following items. Like vinegar, it can be used safely in combination with baking soda, or you can use it as a spray or soak. Usually, the discoloration can be removed if you rinse the item immediately after applying the alcohol, or by washing it with water and dish detergent afterwards. If the blemish doesn’t disappear, then pour the rubbing alcohol into the container instead and let it soak for a few minutes. You might be wondering why it’s so critical to clean hard water stains from a plastic bathtub or your washing machine. Although drinking hard water is not a significant health risk, it can cause substantial damage to plumbing fixtures. This is a variation of the technique described above. You can use alcohol-based hand sanitizer to clean your plasticware – the active ingredient in these products is the same, and the gel can make it easier to apply. We used to recommend a product called Cascade Plastic Booster for stain removal, and it was touted by its proponents for excelling at removing tomato sauce stains in particular from plastic, as well as extending the life of plasticware.

To use denture tablets for stain removal, fill a plastic container that has limescale buildup and place a denture tablet inside. Let the tablets fizz for 30 minutes before rinsing the container with warm water.Cleaning water spots off your toilet bowl or plastic containers is challenging because the longer calcium buildup remains on a surface, the harder it is to clean. Spray your glasses on both sides with cleaning solution. If you’re using dish soap, put a single drop on both sides of the lenses and gently rub it over the lens surface. Rinse if using soap. Denture tablets are designed to remove old food stains from fake teeth. However, the product also makes a fantastic stain remover for calcium deposits and is ideal for cleaning a hard water stain. Squirt some into the container or apply it to the affected area to soak, then rub clean, wash, rinse, and dry. 3. Bleach Don't use white spirits, methylated spirits or WD40 to clean uPVC frames or doors. It will permanently damage the surface of the uPVC.

The best thing to do is not to put anything made with tomato sauce or tomato paste in your plastic containers, and to refrain from using them to reheat food in particular, or you’ll have to live with the results of the blemishes down the line. It’s better not to use plastic at all for storing tomato-based items. Other common reasons for the yellowing include stains that have sat on the plastic for a long time. A small spill of a beverage, food, or oil that was not fully removed may cause that area of the plastic to turn yellow over time. Depending on the color of the plastic itself, the yellowing may be subtle, or it may be obvious. This is particularly true with plastic that is white. Before you start cleaning the wood, remove any loose dirt using a soft brush or vacuum, and make sure the wood is dry before doing so. If you can’t use a specialised wood cleaner, Rian Habergham, garden furniture expert at Leisure Bench advises using warm and soapy water. For textured surfaces, use the nylon brush and scrub in a circular motion to remove dirt and stains. To clean tough soap scum and mineral deposit buildup, use a hydrogen peroxide solution. When hydrogen peroxide interacts with soap scum, the ingredients destroy cell walls. If the item is too large or has areas that cannot be soaked, then dip paper towels into the solution and apply them to the surface of the plastic. Then cover the paper towels with a plastic wrap to keep the mixture from drying out. Let it soak for up to six hours, then set it out in the sunshine or use a UV lamp. When it reaches the desired appearance, rinse the plastic thoroughly. Sanding To Remove Yellow From Plastic Although mostly associated with treating small cuts and abrasions, hydrogen peroxide is also quite good to remove stains from clothes, clean silicone phone cases, yellowed plastic, and brightening surfaces such as those made from the same material. As mentioned above, if the frame has been damaged by an abrasive product, a scouring pad or years of using a cream cleaner then uPVC will be full of fine scratches that make the frame look dull and discoloured. If this has happened there isn't anything you can do that will make the frames shiny white again.

That violates any law, statute, ordinance or regulation (including, but not limited to, those governing export control, consumer protection, unfair competition, anti-discrimination or false advertising); Dampen a soft cloth in the detergent water and wipe to remove dirt and grime from the plastic surfaces. You will want to work from top to bottom. For example, if you are cleaning kitchen cupboards and countertops, start with the top cupboards, then countertops and finish with the lower cabinets.

As a general rule of thumb, polycarbonate has a life expectancy of between 15 and 20 years. After this time, your polycarbonate may begin to turn cloudy, let less light through, and the UV-resistant coating may be worn down. The secret to getting crystal clear windows is to use a quality squeegee with a soft blade (like window cleaners do). Start at one side and either sweep from side-to-side to the bottom or start at one side and swipe from top to bottom and then use your fingers or a cloth to wipe excess water off the squeegee before the next swipe. When you’re desperate to get rid of a smudge on your glasses, it might seem like a good idea to use your own saliva to lubricate the lens.
