Extra old and particularly good single malt from Bowmore, independently bottled by Douglas Laing for its Xtra Old Particular series. The whisky produced at Bowmore has its own individual character, which is largely down to the distillery’s proximity to the coast. A celebration of the legendary Aston Martin DB9, this Bowmore 18-year-old Islay single malt was made as part of an ongoing partnership with the car manufacturer originally.

Just 194 bottles were released, after maturing for 25 years between June 1996 and March 2022, in a single refill hogshead. Paired with the fresh, Hebridian sea air and cold, coastal stone walls which protect Bowmore whiskies during a meticulous maturing process, Bowmore whiskies are as full and as bold as the waters that surround their birthplace. Initially matured in American oak hogsheads, the whisky them moved to white Port casks to finish its maturation. Another of Islay’s finest exports, Bowmore produces superb scotch whisky from its unique coastal location. This single malt from Bowmore was originally released as a distillery exclusive to celebrate Fèis Ìle 2019.Founded in 1779, Bowmore is thought to be one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland, and is owned by Japanese drinks company Suntory, which also owns Auchentoshan and Glen Garioch. Matured in bourbon casks, this one was originally a travel retail exclusive and celebrates the iconic Aston Martin Atom on the packaging. Part of the Bowmore Frank Quietly series made in collaboration with the artist, The Changeling is a superb 22-year-old single malt. Inspired by the past, but truly breathtaking in today's world, the significance of 1964 is paramount.Whisky Sponge and Decadent Drinks are back with another belter, it's an 18-year-old single malt from Bowmore. The heart of the Bowmore range, the 12 year old exhibits some beautiful coastal notes with a gentle peat, it is the balance that the floral element presents that makes this a great entry bottling for Bowmore. This represents a defining era of evolution for both Bowmore and Aston Martin during which both companies made changes would lead to the birth of some of their most iconic creations. Showing off the excellent whiskies of Islay is what this series is all about, and that's exactly what's happening here. Following purchase in 1837, by William and James Mutter, the distillery was resold in 1892 to the Bowmore Distillery Company Ltd.

Distilled in 2003, the whisky was matured in a sherry butt, then another sherry butt, imparting delicious fruit and spice to the coastal peat smoke and powerful malt at its core. Brilliant, single cask Bowmore joining the Symington's Choice Cask Strength Collection from independent bottlers, Signatory Vintage. Their whisky emerges from this time-old and traditional distillation process only once deemed perfect by Bowmore’s skilled, expert distillers, and so with Bowmore whisky, you can be sure that each bottle will be as special as the last. Their whisky distillery produces some two million litres annually and adheres to strict traditions; production methods have scarcely changed in two centuries.
