Originally published in the month of May in 1939, this was first brought out by the publisher George Newnes. Setting up the characters and the premise, this is the first book in the series of ‘The Faraway Tree’, as it sees them arrive for the first time. It also establishes the world it’s set within, as it depicts the magic and wonder of it all, allowing it to come alive for all the young readers. Even after all these years, I still adore this book. It's filled with the kind of adventures you long for as a child, even adult me would love to climb the Faraway Tree! This book has several interesting lands like the Land of Nursery Rhymes and the Land of Know-Alls. But the adventures the children go on don't have much to do with the lands themselves. Instead, they have to go to Dame Slap's school again voluntarily to have tea with Saucepan's mother. This leads to chaos again. And when the Faraway Tree appears to be dying, they all have to find out how to rescue the tree and cure it so that they could save the homes of the folk of the faraway tree and keep their pathway to future adventures intact. The Saucepan Man's mother, who lives with Dame Washalot after The Folk of the Faraway Tree. She runs a cake shop; In the last book Saucepan Man got on my nerves a bit. While that joke of him mishearing everything continues here, he ended up being my favourite character this time around due to the comic relief he provided. Saucepan takes a dislike to Connie (understandably, she is a rather unpleasant child for most of the book) and maintains a petty, childish low-level feud with her for much of the story. I don't know if it was meant to be funny, but I laughed every time he interacted with her. The best:

Will they visit the Land of Treats, the Land of Spells, or the Land of Do-As-You-Please? Join them on an amazing adventure - there will be magic and fun at every turn. I like the bit when they save the tree. I like it because something bad happens and then some thing bad happens. I dislike it because Connie didn't believe in the Faraway Tree. Out of five stars I would give it four.

I will always know Enid Blyton as the author whose name is written so unclear on the books, to my non-English eyes, it could be read as Enicl, Gnid, or Enid. So for many many many years I never actually knew what the name really is. The Folk of the Faraway Tree is the third enchanting story in the Faraway Tree series by the world's best-loved children's author, Enid Blyton. Three books make up the Faraway Tree trilogy by Enid Blyton: The Enchanted Wood, The Magic Faraway Tree and The Folk of the Faraway Tree. For many, they are the most magical of the stories that Enid Blyton wrote, and their first introduction to the author. This book has always been my least favourite of the original three books in this series, though that said, it is still very much a five star read. But in this and some other modern editions, the corporal punishment – and any sense of threat – has just been silently removed.

When Joe, Beth and Frannie move to a new home, they discover an Enchanted Wood just outside their doorstep. Soon they find the Faraway Tree, which is the beginning of many magical adventures.... The third and final book of The Faraway Tree series, The Folk of the Faraway Tree has a new guest staying with the three children - their cousin, Connie. Connie is curious about everything and this obviously leads to several adventures. The girl also obviously disbelieves the tales about the magic wood and the tree, which annoy the others. But really, who would believe such things without first experiencing them?!

And there you have it. These stories all revolve around the central characters mentioned and their adventures both in the Faraway Tree and in the lands above. Like I said, simple adventure based stories for kids to grip onto rather than have to wade through the scene and character formation.
