Lauka Vai sits at odds with the rest of the Avengorii clan. A dynasty that embraces the bestial side of vampirism, and forgoes any semblance of human civility, they’re most comfortable around Vargheists and Fell Bats. Lauka Vai, meanwhile, clings onto the noble world of knighthood she once knew, while satiating that ever-creeping thirst.

Lauka Vai, Mother of Nightmares has joined the opposing side after falling into primordial ooze after a run in with a Tzeentchian Sorcerer. The once courageous vampire-knight now suffers a strong thirst for blood and fits of rage. Already having slain her fellow knights, the Mother of Nightmares can turn on anyone at any point. Standing tall over the battlefield as a bestial mixture of bat-fiend, drake and vampire, Lauka Vai strikes down would-be challengers with ease befitting a noble knight in monstrous form. While she retains her wits and keeps her thirst at bay, fellow Soulblight monsters hang on her every word, but a deadly rage can descend at any moment and turn the Mother of Nightmares into a charging, howling whirlwind of carnage. The two main characters go through some pretty heavy development in such a short story and I found this refreshing. Vampires and werewolves join forces in Belladamma Volga. The dreaded matriarch of the Vrykos Soulblight bloodline, old Mrs Volga is the only leader of a vampiric dynasty to not owe her cursed powers to Nagash. Instead, an ancient ‘godbeast’ is responsible for her bloodline’s distinctly lupine curse, which manifests in not only a wolfish appearance but an intimate connection to rabid animals. Naturally, we got no hints as to when (or in what configurations) any of these bloodthirsty beauties will actually be available. Some of them, at least, can be expected to drop with the Soulblight Gravelords Battletome, but, since we’ve no release schedule for that either, vamp fans will have to wait for now. Perhaps the rest of Warhammer Fest’s reveal schedule may provide.

I was expecting this to be the thing I need for this autumn season and this blew all my expectations out of the water. It was dark, it had the vampires in them who were monsters but were the most human out of all of them, and it also shows how someone who believes so hard in their city becomes a zealot to do whatever they can to keep the so-called "monsters" out of their city, to protect the people who can't fight at all but want to protect them. They look stunning, especially in person (tho mine are still on sprue). GW has really went into a higher gear with modelling lately (I have assembled Be'lakor recently and it's another amazing model). But the combined model is meh to me, looks as if they took two excellent sculpts and slapped them together. So I, as many others, will try to make two separate models by converting a head and lower body to these halves, respectively. As legend has it, the disc of his shield, Tuskbreaker, earned its name by chipping Gorkamorka’s tooth. We love it because it’s got a stylised picture of Kragnos on it, including the shield itself. Also revealed in Monday’s stream was the absolute stallion of unbound malevolence that is the model for Kragnos, the End of Empires, a brand new major character in the AoS canon.
