Description

The DC12 comes with a “Touch Button” control panel and basic LED display. We’re not sure why EcoAir describes this panel as “Intelligent,” but it’s simple to use and provides all the information you need at a glance. We would have liked to have seen a more advanced display for monitoring humidity, but considering the price range it does the job. Easy to use Touch Panel with Active Humidistat, Clean Filter Indicator, 1-24H Timer, Auto Shut Off, Auto Defrost.

Also, as a by-product of their energy usage, desiccant dehumidifiers can warm the air in a room. Therefore, desiccant dehumidifiers are also a great choice for cool or unheated conservatories .Judging the energy efficiency of a dehumidifier is difficult, as the running costs vary depending on the environment and how often the machine is used. Overall, the EcoAir DC12 running costs are relatively low, with the machine using around 220W when on high speed mode. You can reduce energy costs by using the lower speed mode, although the difference in power is small. The EcoAir DC12 is a refrigerant dehumidifier. This means it’s most effective in warm and humid conditions, such as those found inside the average British home.

Desiccant dehumidifiers can significantly warm the air as it passes through, sometimes by as much as 10°C. This makes them a good choice for cold environments, although it does mean that running the machine requires more power and is therefore more expensive.A lot of dehumidifiers, even those with large litre-per-day capacities, have water collection tanks of 6 L or less, so don’t be put off by those smaller numbers. Desiccant or Compressor Dehumidifier It can remove 20 litres of moisture per day and has an automatic ‘humidistat’ sensor (like a thermostat, but for humidity). There’s also as an easy-read digital LED display and a large 5.5 litre water-storage tank.

The DC12 and DC18 are very similar models. In fact, the only real difference is in the capacity. As the names suggest, the DC12 has a maximum capacity of 12 litres per day, while the DC18 can handle 18 litres per day. Both models have the same size water tanks and include identical control panels. EcoAir classifies the DC18 dehumidifier as a compact unit and rightly so since it does not take up a lot of space (measuring in at just 52.6 x 39.4 x 27.6 cm). But, for a small appliance, it is quite heavy. The entire unit weighs about 14.5Kg. Fortunately, this dehumidifier has four castors fixed to the base, which swivel 360 degrees, to help make moving the DC18 a little easier. There are two different type of dehumidifier on the market, and it’s good to be aware of which one you are buying as they can produce slightly different results. Compressor Dehumidifiers Suitable for medium-size rooms, of approximately 10 – 24 m², this Dimplex FTE16 Dehumidifier will effectively keep moisture at bay in the conservatory.Instead of having a cold surface to force condensation, a desiccant dehumidifier contains a wheel that absorbs moisture like a sponge. Nevertheless, it’s still worth paying attention to the litre-per-day capacity, as dehumidifiers with a higher capacity tend to be more powerful and suited to larger rooms. Be precise in managing humidity levels via an Intelligent LED control and be guided by a host of sensors and alarms, which simplify use. Perfect for any application in the home. With a capacity of 12 litres, the DC12 is ideal for flats and small homes (up to three bedrooms). If you have a larger home or a building that suffers with severe damp, the more powerful DC18 might be a better option. Quietness

This style of dehumidifier works better in warm environments because it requires the internal temperature of the dehumidifier to be lower than the surrounding air. If temperatures are below 15°C, a desiccant dehumidifier will be a better choice. Compressor humidifiers don’t raise the temperature as much as desiccant dehumidifiers, so in hot environments where you don’t want more heat, a compressor dehumidifier will be more desirable. This comes as standard on most dehumidifiers, but not all. It’s worth looking out for as it’s a very useful feature. Instead of manually setting how much power you want the dehumidifier to be using, you can set the unit to how much humidity you want in the air. Much like a thermostat, but for humidity, the dehumidifier will then work to maintain the set humidity level. This can stop it from using power unnecessarily and also allow a comfortable environment to be upheld. Some dehumidifiers will come with a hose than can be connected to funnel water away from the dehumidifier. This is especially useful if there is a lot of moisture in the air and you don’t want to be frequently emptying the tank. Once turn on one of 3 coloured lights will appear indicating the current ambient humidity in your environment. Coloured indicators for your ambient humidity;

Anything Else You Should Know?

These machines are the ‘originals’ when it comes to dehumidifying – their design has been around for a long time. Nobody likes heavy lifting, especially when the environment is barely breathable. Fortunately, the EcoAir DC18 Compact Portable Dehumidifier comes with easy glide casters that enable you to slide it effortlessly into any room in your house without having to lift it. This is very useful, especially when the tank has some water in it. Conclusion Digital control panels have become a staple feature of modern dehumidifiers. The DC18 is no different as it comes with a digital display in addition to simple controls that allows operation at the touch of a button. All the smart features of this dehumidifier are easy to use because of the control panel’s intuitive design. As the name implies, this dehumidifier from EcoAir can extract up to 18 litres per day. However, it is worth noting that the extraction rate will depend on the humidity and temperature level within your home. To collect the stated maximum amount of water, you would have to replicate the test climate that the EcoAir DC18 was manufactured to operate in, which is usually only found in hot bathrooms after showering. The EcoAir DC18 underwent tests in conditions of 30ᵒ C and 80% RH to achieve the 18L extraction rate. The DC18 will indicate “Tank Full” and shut down when the collection tank is full. This unit also includes an “Auto Restart”, handy if there is any interruption to the power supply. The function will enable an automatic restart when power is restored, remembering the previous setting. Leave the tank out and an audible alarm will also sound for a period of ten seconds. Offering the flexibility of two fan speeds, and therefore the ability to reduce energy and sound footprint when in low mode. Not seen very often in this class.
