The zippers extended length to the chin, along with the significant depth of the hood kept my face dry and prevented water from dripping down onto the chest. The only issues I have since encountered with the hood is that it is so deep looking to the left or right is nearly impossible while wearing it, and although there is a small brim at the top it is not firm so expect to have some droop in heavier rains. Who could forget that Gert Boyle, the founder of Columbia Sportswear with her famous sense of humour, strapped her son to her car roof and drove through a rainstorm? Many of us remember the iconic Columbia ads from the 80s and 90s, where the “Tough Mother” sent her son through a carwash or performed other experiments in the name of product testing. At Columbia, we keep the motto Gert Boyle stood by: “It’s perfect. Now make it better.” The weather in the South can be unpredictable. This December in Georgia we’ve seen mostly gray skies with temperatures from warm to cool and lots of rain. With the rain and some warmer days humidity has been steady.
