We’d probably recommend TF = 20 on balance, but you’d have to put up with some moderate levels of overshoot. In each one you can still alter things like the brightness control, except in the Level 4 mode where it is locked as some undisclosed value.

However, that is very easily controlled through the brightness setting (on most screens) and should not impact the other areas being measured anyway.

It’s important to understand if the response times and overshoot will vary as the refresh rate changes. TUF Gaming VG27AQZ 165Hz* refresh rate decimates lag and motion blur to give you the upper hand in first person shooters, racers, real-time strategy, and sports titles. This is common for nearly all strobing blur reduction backlights in the market, as at lower refresh rates the flickering becomes more visible and distracting. TUF Gaming VG27AQZ is a 27-inch, WQHD (2560x1440), HDR IPS display with an ultrafast 165Hz* designed for professional gamers and those seeking immersive gameplay. Using 60 made life a bit easier for when using VRR if your refresh rate drops down to around 100Hz though (more on that later).

ASUS Shadow Boost technology clarifies dark areas of the game without overexposing brighter areas, improving overall viewing while also making it easier to spot enemies hidden in dark areas of the map. There are 6 levels available from 0, 20, 40, 60, 80, 100 giving you a fairly wide configuration range to play with. But even if that’s the case, we’re happy to see any instance of engineers pushing performance into the realm of unnecessary. So, while the Asus panel has enough contrast to make games look punchy and vibrant, and with enough depth, there are plenty of panels out there that will deliver deeper, darker shades and a broader contrast range. Above we have included the spectral distribution graphs for our calibrated state at 6500k and the Level 1 blue light filter mode for reference. If you need this level of speed and have a powerful enough graphics card, the VG27AQ is a great choice for competitive and fast-paced gaming. This subreddit is fo You can get around this easily enough by saving your calibrated settings in one of the 3 favourite modes though which you then just activate again if you turn the blue light filter off.

Visually there was little difference between the two modes and we can only assume that this different strobing method was more suitable to coping with the refresh rate changes during FreeSync/G-sync operation and VRR. You can drop down to TF = 60 and eliminate a lot of the overshoot, although response times are then not quite as fast. There is also an on screen timer, FPS counter, display alignment adjuster and “sniper” crosshair mode. You can use our settings and try our calibrated ICC profile if you wish, which are available in our ICC profile database.I've built a full step by step gaming pc build 2020 with an Nvidia RTX 3080 Tuf, AMD Ryzen 3600 and Lian Li Lancool 215! Thankfully it isn’t a heavily grainy coating like some much older IPS panels feature and is also lighter than modern TN Film panel coating.

Certified as NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible, delivering a seamless, tear-free gaming experience by enabling VRR (variable refresh rate) by default. This is Asus’ added “Extreme Low Motion Blur” mode, which on this particular screen can also be used at the same time as FreeSync/G-sync, hence the “sync” in the name.To more fully realize gamers' vision, TUF Gaming is compatible with industry-standard HDR10 high dynamic range for color and brightness levels that exceed the capabilities of ordinary monitors. You can see the response times at 155Hz and 165Hz above, using TF = 80 which we had found to be useable at 144Hz before and slightly faster than the TF = 60 mode. There is a 4ms G2G response time spec is offered, along with a 1ms MPRT spec which applies when using the ELMB blur reduction feature. As a result, with TF = 0 there is some smearing of darker shades on moving content which isn’t ideal. We used the X-rite i1 Pro 2 Spectrophotometer combined with the LaCie Blue Eye Pro software package to achieve these results and reports.
