She is livid that Miles is not leaving the bulk of his fortune to his brother Gilbert and, by extension, herself! He wants to warn them so they can get tested for the terminal disease he might have passed down to them. Of course, some of the issues raised will be too advanced for a baby to grasp, but the point is to start thinking about them from a young age and to challenge any unconscious biases.

Not many people know this, but before Miles was rich, he would supplement his income as a sperm donor. There were moments where I had to suspend disbelief at the motives and actions of certain characters, but hey. Dark characters, devilish deeds, and a near death by stiletto made this one a super fun and clever read! Linwood Barclay is on the few exceptions; his male gaze is minimal, and he doesn't go too crazy with the John Wick subplots. With a truly unique and clever premise, best-selling author Linwood Barclay’s Find You First is an incredible thrill ride with non-stop action.

This book started with a prologue following Todd, 21, told in the third person point of view, as he tried to swindle money out of an elderly over the phone. After spending his formative years helping run a cottage resort and trailer park after his father died when he was 16, Barclay got his first newspaper job at the Peterborough Examiner, a small Ontario daily. In 1944, a bomb lands on the Woolworths on Bexford High Street and five children are instantly killed – atomised in seconds.Quite a bit of misdirection before you guess the true villian but the true hero of the book is a dying man who wants to help others. She’d come around her desk and was sitting in a leather chair next to Miles’s, angled slightly so that her right knee was inches away from his left. After some dark reads, Linwood Barclay's latest crime thriller was just what I needed, it is entertaining, fast paced, and exciting storytelling that had me immersed from start to finish. Maybe this is common knowledge but it's clear that Barclay was inspired by Jeffrey Epstein when writing Jeremy Pritkin LOL. After a period of indulging in a few vices he remembers the doctor’s words when he said “at least you don’t have children” because of course there is a high chance of passing it on.
