Description

Since her ex-husband betrayed her in the worst possible ways, she has kept her distance from all men, taking refuge in her start-up coffee business. When Eden steps out of her beautiful coastal cottage to find a Speedo-wearing, suntanned stranger doing yoga in next door's garden, she is immediately on her guard. Eden is a third generation in a long line of lighthouse keepers, but now that everything is automated, she’s free to run her coffee business. The book has a lovely Cornish setting and the the was of fresh starts, family secrets and hopeful futures are always welcome in a summer book. I found this latest offering from Phillipa Ashley, full of thrills, spills and romance, and it was all set amongst an amazing backdrop in Cornwall, at the very bottom tip of the UK.

I have always wanted to stay in a lighthouse which has been converted into a holiday cottage - maybe I should make it happen! Although her chemistry with Levan is clear from the start, it also seems that he has past issues which he has tried to get away from. After her life in London ends in disaster, Eden moves back to Cornwall to live with the mother Sally in the lighthouse cottage she grew up in.Eden has had a hard time in her last relationship and is most definitely not wanting to get involved with anyone else. The setting of this novel was beautiful and it really makes you think about how difficult the life of a lighthouse keeper could have been, alone, and away from your family for weeks at a time, and how difficult it must have been for the families left behind as well.

A new owner of the cottage next door, might just be the one person who maybe able to change her thinking. As the characters follow a well-developed story arc, it’s impossible not to be drawn into their lives. Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for giving me a complementary digital copy of this ebook in exchange for a full frank and honest review. The books setting was in Cornwall as the title gives away and I almost felt that I was there with them on a hot summers day, drinking coffee and taking in the view. For all ebook purchases, you will be prompted to create an account or login with your existing HarperCollins username and password.

This was no different and I am delighted to say that I learned about coffee roasting, lighthouse keeping, and surveillance by the intelligence services. As the story unfolds, the slimy ex-husband puts in an appearance and it seems that Levan isn't the only one keeping secrets. Since her ex-husband betrayed her in the worst possible way, she has kept her distance from all men, taking refuge in her start-up coffee business. It was a lovely gentle romantic read based on Eden, Levan and Edens family who I loved, especially Iris her grandmother. Eden needs to learn to trust men again after her ex-husband Simon betrayed her - can she learn to trust Leven?Duped out of her money, her home, and her future, she has no desire to feel attracted to another man for a long time.

Both were running away and trying to recover from things they'd experienced, so you knew that there would be secrets revealed and fireworks would explode. All seems "normal" in this small community, with holiday makers coming to enjoy coffee and the stunning ocean views, until a mysterious neighbour moves into one of the holiday homes and turns this rather peaceful set of cottages into something a little more exciting.I loved the setting of this book; it evokes wonderful memories of holidays in Cornwall when I was younger. Leven career as an officer in the army was over as he wes 'dismissed with disgracre from the army and jailed for two years'. A heart-warming read full of sun, sea, friendship and romance perfect for fans of SARAH MORGAN and TRISHA ASHLEY. Of course, as with all Phillipa’s books, there are some wonderful characters, and they add depth to the story. A Secret Cornish Summer is blissful story, full of sunshine, secrets and Phillipa’s trademark romance, that I loved diving into.
