Still enjoying a small niche market, there is little between these and the Tesco version (other than the price). I don't remember them changing either and I used to buy crisps on the way home from school from the late 70's onwards Sunbites Cheddar & Caramelised Onion– Contains various milk products, including cheese powder and butter A standard salt and vinegar option that might be preferred by some vegans to Walkers (which, as mentioned, are made in a factory that handles milk). The archetypal crisp against which all others are judged, there have been some weird and wonderful flavours of Walkers Crisps over the years (Cajun Squirrel anyone?), alongside the timeless classics.

If you are a Dorito, Wotsit, Quavers or Bacon Fries fan they are all unsafe for Coeliacs however there are home brand alternatives in some supermarkets that are safe. There are no cheese curl Quaver types that are exactly the same, they all contain wheat, but there are some products with a similar texture to Quavers which could be a good alternative. Tomato Ketchup– This will come as a blow to many vegans… the Tomato Ketchup flavour crisps from Walkers contain dried milk whey ASDA Extra Special Hand Cooked Crisps, Aberdeen Angus Steak & Mixed Peppercorn, 150g bag, 50g serving – 12.5 Deli Sweet Chilli With Dorset Sour Cream– With sour cream powder from milk, these are no good for vegans

There are of course plenty of crisps out there that are safe for Coeliacs, there isn't just Walkers crisps out there! Seabrooks is usually the brand I go for as all flavours are labelled gluten free and they are ridiculously nice! There are a few other brands such as Kettles who label all theirs with gluten free But the market changed again, Berenstein says, roughly a decade ago. “It’s not that there’s been any kind of technological breakthrough that has allowed for these things that were previously only dreamed of,” she says. “It’s a new understanding of consumer desires and a new pace of production. It’s a bloodbath out there in the supermarkets.” New, limited-edition and mystery flavours attempt to capture the market by “promising something new and different”, she says. I remember the golden wonder crisps being the 'wrong' colour... Its the first thing that came to mind when i read the OP. I was born in 1980 so not really sure how i could have such a strong memory of it if they really did change mid-eighies? Maybe im just getting old. a b "My grandpa founded Golden Wonder but I never saw him eat crisps". BBC News. 21 October 2022 . Retrieved 23 December 2022. In 1947, William Alexander, a Scottish bakery owner, started to produce potato crisps each day after the early morning baking shift had been completed. He called the delicious result Golden Wonder. Today, Golden Wonder is a key player in the crisps market, being one of the UK’s leading producers.

News in brief | Dalgety eats Sooner". The Guardian. London, England. 8 February 1992. p.10 . Retrieved 5 August 2020– via Newspapers.com. Are poppadoms crisps? Well, Sainsbury’s think so, and the mini ones they produce are vegan friendly, so that’ll do for us. The Chilli Heatwave chip ramps up the spice a little but they are by no means tongue-sizzlingly hot, especially if coupled with a mild salsa. With a little less salt than the standard Ready Salted crisps, these will appeal to those who care about such things. They taste pretty similar.

Max Fiery Peri-Peri– Contains lactose and whey powder from milk, annoyingly as these look darn tasty!

Whether you love it or hate it, there is no doubt that Marmite is something of a wonder food for vegans because it contains much-needed B vitamins that are not present in many vegan foods. With a worryingly addictive taste-crunch combo, the Original Pringles are a solid addition to any party or vegan barbecue. Golden Wonder launched the cheese & onion crisp flavour in 1962. [11] Their first flavoured crisp, the concept was first devised by Tayto in Ireland in 1953. In 1996 Golden Wonder relaunched with the slogan “Bursting with flavour”. Included was the innovativeTurkey and Stuffing flavour crisps. In1998 Golden Wonder relaunched once again with the slogan “Best flavour, best taste”. Note that at the time of writing all crisps from Walkers are made in factories that handle milk, which could be a problem for some vegans, and certainly for anyone with a severe milk allergy.
