Description

Synology's RT6600ax has just four LAN ports (with an additional one reserved for WAN use) and only one is capable of handling up to 2. For now, you can only use multiple RT6600ax together, but soon, when existing routers, namely the MR2200ac and RT2600ac get SRM 1. Unfortunately, the same steps did not work on my new RT6600ax, and I factory reset it again to try from scratch again with no luck.

It did crash a few times, likely due to first-release bugs but not to the point that caused concerns. Using a Superloop NBN 100/40 plan during the busy evening hours via FTTC, I got the results below with the Nighthawk XR700. If the broadcaster support DFS then the 5GHz-1 gets up to channel 64, and the rest (100 and up) goes to 5GHz-2.It's an excellent Wi-Fi 6 router that meets or exceeds what you'd expect from Synology, with similarly well-designed firmware, a rich feature set, and stellar reliability.

I’d stay with the same hardware in your case or add another MR2200ac if you need to extend the coverage. GHz frequency band has similar issues to the Xiaomi routers I’ve tested in recent weeks, all equipped with Qualcomm processors, just like Synology RT6600ax. While admittedly expensive, with only minor quibbles holding it back—some of which will hopefully be addressed in future firmware updates—the Synology RT6600ax is a future-proofed router that’s easy to use and has plenty of versatility for those who like to tinker. Brucie, the way I see it, you couldn’t find what you wanted for free, and you attacked Dong’s integrity. It has a few models, accompanied by outstanding firmware and software support, and they just launched their first Wi-Fi 6 router - Synology RT6600ax.

For my comparison tests, I used my ageing but faithful Netgear Nighthawk Pro Gaming XR700, which is a WiFi 5 router.

I never got around to testing if using 4G first would work from scratch, and then swapping to the ONT, as I’m rather burned out on my networking problems. Synology is a less known brand in the world of consumer electronics and some people know the company only for its advanced Network Attached Storage (NAS) solutions. Any faster speed grade will require a router with multiple Multi-Gig ports -- preferably with faster-than-2. I believe Safe Access will make many parents happy, though this app is much more than just Parental Controls. You’re looking for specific wording that fits your narratives — here’s what I’ve said: that was all I knew, I didn’t have all the answers, and that you should try for yourself.Download Station also has a mobile app, the DS Get, which allows you to manage downloads from anywhere. So while these speed-test results aren’t the same as pitting two WiFi 6 routers against each other, they are indicative of what you can expect when shifting from WiFi 5 to WiFi 6 (assuming you have compatible WiFi 6 devices to benefit from the performance boost). If you want more technical information about this product, I recommend you visit its official page: Synology RT6600ax. ExpertWiFi EBR63 is not the first ASUS router made for businesses but it’s the first in the company’s new ExpertWiFi line-up.

In April 2020, the Federal Communications Commission opened up the 6 GHz band for unlicensed use, but Synology apparently already had the RT6600ax project under wraps and couldn't add WiFi 6E support because it would have required massive changes to the radio circuits of the router. Anyway, my point to this is that for the 20+ days I had the RT6600ax, it absolutely did do much better for me in my 1000 square foot home than the RT2600ac. The Settings tab provides access to the usual prosumer router settings, but accessing them via the web-browser provides the best experience on the market thanks to the Synology NAS-like GUI. While the RT6600ax is better than the Ubiquiti UDR on the port speed front -- the latter has no Multi-Gig port but two PoE ports -- it still gave me the same fleeting feeling of disappointment.

Synology is renowned for the best NAS enclosures the company produces, but it also makes some routers on the side, and the Synology RT6600ax is the latest networking tool.
