When used to assemble threaded fasteners, LOCTITE® threadlockers permanently secure assemblies and eliminate fretting corrosion.

These different threadlocker types are color-coded to help you distinguish one threadlocker type from another.Common solutions are a double nut that increases contact through more thread interface, a spring washer to increase bolt tension through its spring action or a nylon insert which creates interference between itself and the bolt threads. Within minutes the lock thread solution will get to work, creating a semi-permanent bond between the part’s thread and the fitting in which it sits. Watch what happens when a few drops of LOCTITE ® threadlocker prove to be the difference between success and failure. If cure speed is too slow due to passive metals (stainless steel, aluminium and plated metals) or low temperature (below 5°C), use activator LOCTITE 7240 or LOCTITE 7649 (see cure speed vs activator graph in the TDS).

A06 is a high strength, low viscosity formulation for permanent locking of studs and bolts up to 1" (25mm) diameter.

The limitation of all these methods is that none tackle the gap that exists between the threads of the bolt and nut. The usage instructions are recommendations based on the tests we have conducted and on our experience; carry out your own tests before each application. Loctite Threadlocker Red 271 is designed to lock and seal threaded fasteners permanently and prevent loosening from vibration. LOCTITE 2700 is a high-strength threadlocker for maximum efficacy in the securing and sealing of bolts, nuts and studs to prevent loosening due to vibration.
