Description

Segura has been a frequent guest on The Joe Rogan Experience. His first appearance was on episode 8. Nevertheless, you were touring with that bit. Do you give any thought to or have any concern about how a joke like that lands in certain parts of the country? Tom Segura delivers one of the best joke-for-joke comedy specials of 2023. It’s a pure comedy gold that you don’t want to miss. Segura released a book in 2022 titled I'd Like to Play Alone, Please, a collection of humorous essays. He said about the book: "This is not a memoir, this is not an autobiography. It's a collection of stories, which is an extension of what I do as a comedian, which is I tell stories, a lot." [13] Personal life [ edit ] Now here you are, and you are about to release your fifth Netflix special. What was important to you with this one?

That’s awesome. I was going to ask, as I have many comedians, do you feel like Hollywood executives know what to do with you and your talent? One joke that you cut is the Ted Cruz-neighbor-interaction one. I’m curious why you cut that. Did you not want to deal with the bullshit that came from it? Segura has performed at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, [7] The Comedy Festival, the Global Comedy Festival in Vancouver, and Just For Laughs Comedy Festival. [8] Segura was also a San Francisco regional finalist on Last Comic Standing 2. Segura was born on April 16, 1979, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Rosario "Charo" Segura, a Peruvian immigrant, and Thomas Nadeau Segura. His father was a First Vice President of Merrill Lynch. [1] [2] This conspiracy theory about Garth Brooks is particularly wild given his Chris Gaines-sex addict alter ego.It came up on the podcast. Bert floats this idea and we end up talking about it off-mic more extensively; talk about it more with some producers; talk about it more with Etan Cohen, who wrote Tropic Thunder; talk about it some more; and [Cohen] sends in a draft [of a screenplay] I read that is hilarious. The feature world is peculiar. It’s not a straightforward business. There are so many variables. I’ve heard nothing but excitement from the whole camp about doing this, and I’ve been told everyone is gung-ho about doing this, but I’ll reserve my real excitement for the day I’m on set doing it. Segura, his wife, comedian Christina Pazsitzky and two sons live in Austin, Texas. [18] [19] [20] Stand-up comedy [ edit ] Albums [ edit ] Year Even though it’s not the whole set, a big thing for me was dealing with my father’s death. Obviously, it didn’t play like, “Hey, this is a real serious thing I’m gonna talk about,” but it was definitely something that sat with me. I will say I’m really pleased with the special. I made some really grown-up decisions.

Fresh off his latest global tour, Segura hopped on the phone to talk about the new hour, his 4- and 7-year-old sons’ take on their father’s fame, his own Hollywood ambitions and how his Ted Cruz bit landed around the world.Segura began stand-up comedy shortly after graduating from Lenoir-Rhyne University. On episode 568 of Your Mom's House, Segura mentioned he was doing comedy in the evenings for the first few years while holding down other daytime jobs. Segura has described interning at Kopelson Entertainment and then having his first paid job in the industry as a logger, producing transcripts of reality shows such as Extreme Makeover and My Big Fat Obnoxious Boss. [6] Segura is from Cincinnati, Ohio, [14] and has lived in Minneapolis, Minnesota; Mequon, Wisconsin; Vero Beach, Florida; and Los Angeles, California. [15] He has two sisters named Jane and Maria [16] and is related to the neurobiologist and podcast host Andrew D. Huberman. [17]

The comic and prolific podcaster is readying his fifth Netflix stand-up special. This one, titled Tom Segura: Sledgehammer, will roll out globally July 4.Segura, Tom (2022). I'd like to play alone, please. Grand Central Publishing. p.39. ISBN 9781538704639. Tom Segura: Sledgehammer is a masterclass of storytelling from one of the best comedians in the game. Punch line after punch line will have you in tears laughing at Segura’s incredibly dark jokes. It’s one of the best stand-up specials of not just this year but the decade. Is Tom Segura: Sledgehammer worth watching? Thomas Weston Segura (born April 16, 1979) is an American stand-up comedian, writer, author, actor, and podcaster. Segura co-hosts the Your Mom's House podcast with his wife, fellow comedian Christina Pazsitzky. Segura also co-hosts the podcast Two Bears One Cave with best friend and fellow comedian Bert Kreischer. Presumably that was a byproduct of the pandemic — having not been able to be on the road and, at least at the beginning, wondering if you ever would be again? CBS Buys Family Comedy 'The Little Things' From Tom Segura, Christina Pazsitzky". Deadline Hollywood. August 17, 2018 . Retrieved November 7, 2018.

I think Sledgehammer is far and away your finest special yet and feels like the culmination of decades of honing your stand-up. Very few comics anymore get on the stage, tell jokes, make you laugh, and get off the stage. This year has really seen the rebirth of comedy that I’ve missed so much. From Matt Rife’s Only Fans to John Mulaney’s Baby J and now with Tom Segura’s Sledgehammer, you have comedians getting on the stage without a care in the world about “cancel culture” and telling jokes to make audiences laugh. Some may see it as crossing lines, but turn it off if you don’t like it. Is Tom Segura: Sledgehammer good or bad?

Sowunmi, Jordan (July 21, 2014). "Meet the Married Comedians Who Share Their Private Life in a Podcast". Vice . Retrieved September 10, 2020. Actually, I have something that I can’t tell you about just yet. I’ll give you the scoop when the strike ends. It’s an aspiration that’s about to be a reality. Well, at least it’s not Garth Brooks that’s your neighbor. Which brings us to one of the greatest feuds of all time. You mention, “Where are the bodies, G?” in the new special, and now it’s really taken on a life of its own.
