Description

The cards themselves are about a standard sized tarot card and fit in my hand nicely, however, something some have complained about is the thinness of the cards. First published in 1989, here you will find the journey of the Tarot cast from the characters of ancient Greek myth. Back of New Mythic Tarot deck packet says: The New Mythic Tarot Deck depicts the gods and goddesses, heroes and heroines of the Greek myths - familiar archetypal characters whose experiences perfectly mirror the shifts and patterns of our lives today.

The card illustrations depict the archetypal characters of the Greek myths, whose experiences perfectly reflect the deeper patterns of our lives today. Each suit depicts archetypal characters -- such as the heroic Odysseus, the Earth Mother Demeter, and Athena, the goddess of justice -- and every card tells a well-known mythical story. Showing familiar archetypal characters whose experiences perfectly mirror the shifts and patterns of our lives today. Absolutely recommend picking up one of these decks whether it’s a first deck or adding another one into the mix.She has successfully combined all these interests into her life and work, through teaching, working and writing books. The Hierophant which in its original form speaks of the traditional values and codes of established institutions. A sensitive explanation of the Tarot pack that goes well with a Jungian interpretation of psychology. All the higher arcana keep their original titles such as ‘the Devil’ ‘Judgement’ ‘Hierophant’ but the imagery is replaced with illustrated versions of the Greek gods. The Mythic Tarot deck is a joint creation by Juliet Sharman-Burke and Liz Greene, and the cards are illustrated by Tricia Newell.

JULIET SHARMAN-BURKE is the author of several books and book and card sets including The Beginner's Guide to the Tarot, The Complete Book of Tarot, and, with Liz Greene, the The Mythic Tarot. It contains a 224 page illustrated guidebook, a full deck of 78 cards with stunning art by Tricia Newell and a cloth that can be used for card layouts and to keep the deck wrapped safely when the cards are not in use. For this new edition, the entire deck has been re-illustrated by Giovanni Caselli, an artist with a passion for the classical world, its literature, symbols and myths. I have been a tarot card reader for many years now, and have been reading with the Rider-Waite for all this time.I have been using this decks for about two years now and I so love it because of the depth of meaning and how the context of Western thought directly relates to Greek myth. Juliet Sharman-Burke was born in Nairobi, Kenya and has spent over 20 years practising astrology and tarot and has written a number of books on these topics, both for beginners and the more advanced. Orestes and the curse on his family are explored through the Swords (and I really appreciate how this deck doesn’t try to downplay the conflicts of this suit or the story). But instead of probing deep inside our skulls in pursuit of complex analyses, the deck uses Greek mythology to hold a mirror up to our lives, showing that – thousands of years later – we can learn a lot from the very human stories that can be found there.

The cover may have some limited signs of wear but the pages are clean, intact and the spine remains undamaged. If you want to do a quick reading with the cards and you are learning by the book, you can skip the full explanation and just read the divinatory part. So if you are looking for a good all-rounder, look no further, you have found what you were looking for. As a tarot card reader and collector of tarot cards, this is one of the best Tarot cards I've ever purchased, it is very well written, and superbly put together, This is a must to get for any tarot card reader or beginner. The characters appear, illustrating a moment in an Ancient Greek story that also corresponds with a tarot card meaning. With charmingly naïve art by Tricia Newell, the original Mythic Tarot illuminates these deceptively simple tales of Greek gods and heroes once again. DinA 5, 216 Seiten, nur einige kleine sw-Illustrationen der Tarotkarten von Tricia Newell, englischer Text, Einband mit leichten Gebrauchsspuren, glänzend schwarze Beschichtung beschabt, leicht kantenbestoßen, Schnitt und Seiten papierbedingt gebräunt, gut erhalten / guter Zustand Englische Ausgabe; english Edition; Inhalt: Introduktion; The Major Arcana; The Minor Arcana; Readig the Cards. I have particularly liked this deck because original higher arcana cards that I struggle to interpret such as ‘The Devil’ and the ‘Hierophant’ have a more palatable symbolism.
