The Level 5 certificate in Nursing Studies prepares the learner for work in a variety of health care settings and further studies in nursing. While often serving as a pre-nursing course for those who don't yet have the qualifications to get into third-level education, it is a qualification in its own right where participants are introduced to a wide variety of nursing and health modules along with a work placement, during which they will have the opportunity to work in a setting of their choice under supervision. By the end of the programme successful participants will understand the role and responsibilities of the Professional Nurse and/or be able to work as a Healthcare Assistant in hospitals, nursing homes, and daycare centers. In addition to the compulsory core modules in Human Growth and Development (5N1279); Safety and Health at Work (5N1794) and Care Provision and Practice (5N2705) and the period of work-based placement or practice, learners will undertake stimulating and practical modules in their choice of a variety of health and social care topics. Health Data Research UK (HDR UK) was established in April 2018 by a group of core funders. The core funders initially set up HDR UK as the “national health data research institute” with the vision of creating a pre-eminent international UK Institute for 20-30 years. The initial five years investment covered 2018-2023 (first quinquennium). The MRC, as the lead funder, is now co-ordinating all core funders in a quinquennial review (QQR) of HDR UK. This review will assess our impact to date and future vision and be used to inform decisions about continued funding for HDR UK through to a second quinquennium (QQ2).
