Description

This garrulous, fast-paced read offers the joy of a reunion with not just Rachel, but the rambunctious Walsh clan. Love her books this is one of the best with realistic insights into addictions to prescription drugs alcohol and other drugs. There’s also times she goes on a deep dive into topics you don’t generally talk about, and you don’t even realise that’s where you’ve gone until you are there.

Over 22 million copies of her novels have been sold worldwide and her books have been translated into 32 languages. In this book, many forms of addiction are obviously discussed, but also there's a big section on pregnancy loss/stillbirth. As is this author’s style, there is hilarity and heartache intertwined in this story to create something very unique. Then she gets word that Luke is back in town for his mother’s funeral, and her world turns upside down.Being taken back to the world of the Real Men and the Feathery Strokers was nostalgic fun and there is a lot of lightheartedness and humour in this book. Whereas I – being like everyone else – was in a constant process of recalibration, trying to negotiate emotional harmony with every new person I met. I totally forgot how mad and unique this clan was but I didn’t take long for me to get myself reacquainted with this fun-loving family. I love them with all my heart and the news that there was to be a sequel to Rachel's Holiday had me lepping about the living room like a mad thing for several minutes until I had to sit down and have a biscuit. But you would be missing out on all of the background and emotional journeys these characters have gone through in the previous books.

As usual Marian brings humour into the dark, the writing as always is touching and moving when it needs to be but hilarious in between. In many novels, like Again, Rachel , dialogue plays a crucial role in conveying character depth and driving the plot forward.Assured, wise and witty with superb observational detail, reading Marian Keyes is like being cradled in safe arms. When Marian Keyes announced she had written a sequel to her 1997 smash hit novel, Rachel’s Holiday, social media went into overdrive.
