A circular polarizing filter is a landscape photographer’s best camera accessory as it allows you to capture vividness and contrast in a photo. I have even used it to capture cityscapes and trust me it completely changes the image once you have it mounted on your camera lens. Having said that, let me take you through detailed uses of a CPL filter. Otherwise, the tint is hardly noticeable in a typical image. The UV filter is clear and reduces the excessive blue in haze, marine, and mountain scenes without adding tint. Light Balancing Filters:

Let’s go through the different types of filters that are available today. Overview of Types of Lens Filters An FLD filter, also known as a fluorescent light correction filter, is a type of optical filter used in photography to correct the color balance when shooting under fluorescent lighting conditions. Fluorescent lights emit a greenish or bluish light, which can result in an unnatural color cast in photographs. The FLD filter is designed to counteract this color shift and restore more accurate and natural colors to the image.

In recent years, the impact of FLD filters on color correction has become even more significant due to advancements in digital imaging technology. With the rise of digital cameras and post-processing software, photographers have more control over color correction than ever before. However, it is still crucial to use an FLD filter when shooting under fluorescent lighting conditions to minimize the need for extensive color correction in post-production.

Neutral density filters reduce the amount of light entering your lens without affecting the colour of the final video. This helps when you’re shooting in harsh light such as studio flashes or even a sunny day.In these conditions, I only use the CPL filter to remove reflections on the surfaces. I used a CPL filter to bring out the texture of the sky Saturated Colors This is the filter I use: Tiffen 72mm Color Graduated Neutral Density 0.6 Filter White Balance Filters (Warming/Cooling) The 85A converts Type A tungsten film to Daylight lighting. The 85B filter converts Type B tungsten film to daylight lighting. Landscape photographers have discovered an additional use for the 85 series filters. Because they add a lot of warmth to an image, many photographers use them to enhance a sunset or other scene that might need more punch.

Some filters will screw onto the front of your lens, and you’ll need different sized ones for different sized lenses. Alternatively, you could choose square or rectangular filters. These are secured in place using a filter holder that you mount to the front of your lens. Ultraviolet (UV) and skylight filtersThe Malus formula tells us that the best polarization occurs when the incoming rays in the CPL filter are at 90°. This is with respect to the rays coming out of the polarities. Clear or protective filters serve the sole purpose of protecting your camera lens. They keep out dust and moisture and make cleaning your lens a whole lot easier. Since this filter is simply clear glass, it won’t add any unwanted element to your videography.
