Description

This exclusive Funko Pop! figure beautifully captures the intricacies of his character, from the worn-out weapons of his brothers to the steely determination in his eyes. Nor is the Ronin entirely alone in his quest. April O’Neil is still alive in this future timeline, and she’s joined by her daughter Casey Marie (named after her late father, Casey Jones). Casey is a budding ninja herself (having read Master Splinter’s books for guidance). While there’s no indication whether she’s in the game, it’s possible Casey could become a secondary playable character in the game. In another nod to 2016’s God of War, Casey could even be the Atreus figure - a semi-playable companion character who joins the Ronin on his quest. The Ultimate Raphael figure includes swappable head pieces and several hands along with Raph's arsenal of weaponry including an arrow and a throwing knife. The Ultimate Karai figure also has a throwing knife, interchangeable heads and hands and a sword with a sheath. Both figures come with an illustration by Ben Bishop, the artist of The Last Ronin comic. It’s a miniature tribute to the enduring spirit of the Turtles, a symbol of resilience in the face of overwhelming odds. Inspired by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin, this incredible statue captures the determination and resolve of the last surviving member of the TMNT, Michelangelo, in a bleak alternate future ruled by the Foot Clan. The Last Ronin Statue measures 20.5” tall as Michelangelo stalks the sewers in pursuit of his enemies. A highly detailed environment base puts the turtle in his native element, with grimy water flowing around rust-colored pipes deep beneath the Foot Clan-controlled city. The statue includes four weapon proximity pieces that can be placed anywhere along the base for an added storytelling element, representing the arsenals of his fallen brothers as well as his own: a sai, a broken bo staff, a shattered sword, and nunchaku.

The open hands on both figures add a nice variety. The flat open hands especially make me want to make some bandanas for the unarmored figure to hold. Despite the darker tone, it remains true to its roots and delivers a conclusion that feels both satisfying and earned.Mind you, if The Last Ronin were simply dark for the sake of being dark, it might not be a story worth adapting. We’ve seen plenty of games about lone protagonists cutting a wide swath of destruction as they seek to right a terrible wrong. Fortunately, there’s an undercurrent of hope and optimism to the series that offsets the grim and gritty elements. The Ronin’s character arc is less about whether he achieves his goal than it is learning to hope again and find reasons to live. That’s the arc we hope to see play out in the game adaptation. He embodies the essence of the darker, grittier storyline, starkly contrasting the jovial, pizza-loving turtles we once knew.

Inspired by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin, this incredible statue captures the determination and resolve of the last surviving member of the TMNT, Michelangelo, in a bleak alternate future ruled by the Foot Clan. The Last Ronin Statue – Supreme Edition measures 23.5” tall as Michelangelo stalks the sewers in pursuit of his enemies, guided by the ghosts of his brothers. A highly detailed environment base puts the turtle in his native element, with grimy water flowing around rust-colored pipes deep beneath the Foot Clan-controlled city. The statue includes four weapon proximity pieces that can be placed anywhere along the base for an added storytelling element, representing the arsenals of Michelangelo’s fallen brothers as well as his own: a sai, a broken bo staff, a shattered sword, and nunchaku. Wielding the shattered remnants of his fallen brothers’ weapons, he stands as an enigma, shrouding his identity in mystery. Then there are the NECA versions of The Last Ronin! While being a diehard Turtle Fan and likely getting both. I definitely favor NECA. The NECA Figures have pretty much been the epitome of TMNT figures since 2008 or 2009. They are beautifully detailed plus they are incredibly articulate which makes for incredible posing. NECA will have two figures, one in full garb and a topless version. While no release date or concise pictures of the accessories were provided, Trevor Zammit let it be known that all the accessories are ideally being designed to fit on the character as it does in the comic. Note: this article was originally published on March 24, 2023 and updated on August 16, 2023 with the latest info about The Last Ronin. We won’t spoil the identity of the titular Last Ronin here. That reveal is a major part of the first issue of the series, and we assume the game will make a big deal out of revealing which of the four characters survives this hellish future. But if you want to know, we’ve got a full breakdown of the first issue of The Last Ronin. These guys have a really great bulk to them and at around 6.5 inches, I was initially unsure of the scale. Part of that is because I hadn’t read the book and in that they explain he’s continued to grow and mutate, so he’s larger than the turtles usually are. Isn’t it amazing when an old favorite gets a fresh twist? That’s precisely what’s happened with “The Last Ronin,” one of the latest entries in the beloved Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise.

The breathtaking proximity piece of brothers Leonardo, Raphael, and Donatellois fully sculpted and painted in a spectral teal with white highlights to make the turtle trio stand out against the darkness of the ronin’s stealthy garb. Reaching their hands out to lend strength to their brother, these fallen heroes in a half shell are detailed with intricate costume textures and a base of ghostly wisps encompassing the entire scene. The Last Ronin Statue – Supreme Edition can be displayed with or without this element attached. Without the ghost brothers, the statue measures 20.5” tall. Custom-made 6″ figure depicting the Last Ronin from the upcoming IDW series. Created by re-purposing pieces of existing figures, extensive modding, sculpting, and repainting. The Sai and Nunchaku and tonfa are the same between the two figures and they have great detail and when there is metallic paint it has a great shine to it and some lovely detail enhancing washes. I did feel like I needed to heat up the hands a bit to get some of the weapons in there. The pointing hand from the unarmored version can also hold the sai in a cool way. In short, while there’s no reason for The Last Ronin to be a carbon copy of the God of War games, there are many ways in which God of War is a fitting choice of inspiration for this action game. If anyone can match Kratos’ ferocity and rage on the battlefield, it’s the Ronin. Adapting the Story of The Last Ronin The grip hands on both figures are super tight, but they help the figure hold super tiny accessories like the ninja stars, knives, and bomb. The knives from the unarmored figure actually fit in a little slot in the fist.Sculpting on both of these figures is so great and capture the spirit of the comic perfectly. The level of detail and beautiful textures are highlighted with great washes. There was a lot of attention to detail paid on this figure and even the soles of the feet have a texture similar to how it was drawn in the comics. The figures share a lot of parts with the same lower body. But some games, like 2016’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan, really lean into the differences between the Turtles. Each character in that game has a unique ninjutsu style and special moves, and players are able to switch between Turtles at will. The turtles, once unified and vibrant, are replaced with a solitary figure grappling with the weight of loss. Splinter’s diary has nice detail, and I especially like the leathery texture on the cover, but to fit it in the hand, I had to really heat and stretch the hand open.

Sideshow and Premium Collectibles Studiopresent the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin 1:4 Scale Statue – Supreme Edition. The Last Ronin is almost surely going to be a very different experience from any Turtles game that has come before, and that’s exactly what has me so excited. This tale is a perfect choice for an ambitious, story-heavy action game. We just hope the developer in question can pull it off.
