Overall, after never seeing a Game of Thrones episode, I rather enjoyed this opener to the prequel, although it would be easier to get into it if I had subtitles, given most of the cast mumble a fair bit. Much like the first season of Game of Thrones, House of the Dragonis engrossing right from the start with its characters, played by an excellent cast, and its story. Whereas GoTwas a sprawling epic told all across and beyond Westeros featuring many clashing houses, House of the Dragoninstead focuses on the Targaryen family at the height of their power, yet also at a critical time in their rule that will define Westerosi history going forward. There’s also an irony as the show features more of the ‘game of thrones’ than Game of Thronesdid as multiple characters plot, lie and manipulate for more power and a chance to sit on the famed Iron Throne. Everyone is the cast is great, but particular praise has to go to Paddy Considine who plays King Viserys Targaryen. Anyone who watched the original series will be used to some pretty lousy or downright evil kings and queens ruling over Westeros, but Viserys is different in how he is a kind and competent king who feels the weight of the crown every day and tries to balance his duty to the realm with his family.

Suffice it to say that due to Daemon's own misguided behaviors and an intervening tragedy, Rhaenyra is in fact appointed heir apparent, the first Now, as for when the time comes for someone else to sit on the Iron Throne, who will take the Crown, since everyone seems to want to get in on the succession action? Well, you have to watch the programme to find out, since that’s how these things work. If it initially appears that Rhaenyra is going to this series' version of Elizabeth, even that supposition gets at least sidelined if not outright dismissed, and not just because of the Naturally, I’m going to avoid any sort of spoilers as much as possible, but I’ll only give you one plot point which happens early on AND is in the trailer – since it’s unavoidable – in that the Prince takes the crown, leaving the Princess rather miffed. The cast list also states that he’s the King, BTW.assume he will inherit the throne if Aemma doesn't give birth to a son, since longstanding tradition has stated only males can assume power. Well, several years after a cliffhanging finale in its third season. It also may frankly bring to mind The Crown itself, in that viewers have to AVC encoded 1080p transfer in 2.00:1.
