This results in condensation inside the binoculars when you are using it early in the morning at wetlands. More recently I have used otherwise identical binoculars of the same brand, and the BaK4 models still always present brighter images than the Bk7 models. The binoculars' 8x magnification and 65 degree field of view make them ideal for use on fast-moving subjects, and details such as UV protection and night vision make these binoculars a good choice for hikers, birdwatchers, camping, and hunting enthusiasts.

Then as I have discussed, keep an eye on other indicators of quality, like them being water and fogproof.

Although the 8x40s are lighter and give a wider FOV I find that the extra 10mm really helps pick out those fainter objects. Two 8x40ish porros that offer some level of water resistance from Bushnell are the Legacy WP and the H2O models. But If you can afford a little more, I would really suggest that you try to ensure that your bins are at least multi-coated and better still fully multi-coated as this really will make a difference. I was looking at that size on their info sheet and noticed that it had over 9° FOV , but maybe the reduction in aperture would reduce the brightness?

You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. This problem is solved by the monolayer coating on the inside of the barrel, which reduces the sun's glare and balances the colour contrast of the pictures. This site is not responsible for any damage that the information on this site may cause to your system. If you look at the table below, it shows that an optical system with 10 glass surfaces that are left uncoated transmit just 66% of the light that they initially capture, whilst if all 10 surfaces are multi-coated, this can be raised to 95%.Does the Pentax SP have better fov edge sharpness than the Olympus, and what sort of field of view do you get? Made especially for nature observation, the DPS I series binoculars secure high image brightness, contrast and quality thanks to the anti-reflective lens coating. Olympus fail to specify what glass they use to make the prisms with, this for me is a concern as on their higher spec models, they clearly state that they use BaK-4 Glass. Alternatively, you could get the aculon and purchase a neoprene pouch which would add a degree of waterproofing and protection - just an idea.

Adromeda M31 was a fairly well defined fuzzy, although the conditions were a bit hazy with bright spotlights on the nearby bridge spoiling the dark skies, and I quickly panned across to the Triangulum galaxy which showed up very dimly: a surprise for me as I couldn't locate it with my 12x60 celestrons. So whilst you are right in saying that the larger objective lenses on the Olympus will produce a larger exit-pupil than that of the Kowa, I am fairly certain that the image you see through the Kowa will be brighter, especially in low light conditions as well as have a much better overall quality. In the first thread a purchaser found that the size of 7x35 sweet spot and the level of deterioration of the image outside it were OK for his use on the night sky which is impressive. This problem is solved by the monolayer coating on the inside of the barrel, which reduces the sun’s glare and balances the colour contrast of the pictures.
