The latches are easy to undo with only one hand. They seem to keep the lid securely on but I have heard a few complaints about them breaking, but I haven’t experienced it myself. There are no replacement parts sold but Igloo does offer a three-year warranty. Also typical of these sizes, the smallest size will utilize a different carrying method than the 2 larger sizes. We will go into this more in the next section. But outside of this, most of the features are retained across all 3 models. Some of the features that are a little more unique include a fish scale on the lid of the cooler and what Igloo calls their “blow-molded” construction. We suspect that this is just a fancy name for roto molding but we must admit that the name did catch our attention. Igloo appears to be going through a bit of a facelift among its cooler lineups. As you can see from the many Igloo Coolers that we have reviewed in the past, their lineup is enormous. It can be hard to keep up with all of the products and the oftentimes subtle tweaks that they made to them each year. Depending on which model you go with and the specific application that you plan to put it through, you should anticipate ice life that ranges from around 2 days up to almost a week. Features/Build Quality –

Weight is 11.3lbs unloaded, which is quite light considering its heavy-duty construction. With larger size coolers, you’ll typically need a bigger vehicle to transport them in, however, with this size of cooler carrying in your car or on public transport should not be an issue. PortabilityNow we will discuss some of the other features that aren’t directly tied to toughness. Another clever feature that many Igloo Coolers use is what they call their “Cooler Riser Technology”. This registered feature that Igloo has entails putting legs on the underside of the cooler which literally “lifts” the cooler off of the ground. By doing this, you will enjoy a boost to ice life since there is less surface area for heat to travel through. The Igloo BMX series takes it up another notch by designing these risers to have aggressive grips similar to what you would see on some off-road tires. This is a smart move because the cooler may be more prone to slide around without having good grips on these risers. The rubber gasket and rubber feet weren’t quite as securely attached, and we felt that both could have been pried off with some effort. This may or may not be an issue with long-term durability, but the slight difference in quality compared to the Yeti was noticeable. RTIC makes a rotomolded cooler very similar in design to the Yeti Tundra but with a noticeably lower price tag. Using insulation within their walls, many of today’s coolers can keep ice, drinks and food cool even when you’re outdoors in 100-degree-plus heat. Although you’ll pay more than you would for a traditional type of cooler, you’ll get the convenience that comes with tossing drinks, food and ice into your cooler in the morning and having those items remain cool late that afternoon. In fact, some coolers can even chill items for several days. Despite being less than a year in the ice chest, Igloo’s BMX has proven worthy enough for a comparison to the biggest name in the field: Yeti.

Electric coolers are basically portable mini-fridges, and they’re best for those who are truly serious about their cooling needs. Electric coolers are expensive and only make sense if you have a generator running full-time during your camping trips. Size & Capacity

Handles: every cooler we tested has handles, but we liked some designs more than others. The rope carry handles on the Yeti and RTIC were our preferred design for two-person carry. A large single handle was easiest for one-person carry. Plastic handles like those found on many cheap coolers were flimsy and made transport difficult. It’s also more portable than the Yeti or RTIC. The cooler’s small size is easy to move around with just one person, even when fully loaded.
