It has a local dimming feature, but it doesn't improve the contrast ratio because the checkerboard test pattern keeps all the dimming zones on. When viewing a very dark grey font for example on a black background, the font almost disappears when viewed head on, but gets lighter as you move slightly to the side. Also, there are many bugs with it, and monitors like the Gigabyte M27Q X and the Dell Alienware AW2723DF offer the nearly same gaming performance for a cheaper cost, so unless you really want a monitor with a VA panel, there are better options.
