Description

Pinata Inks reactivate with alcohol, which is something that can take some getting used to. Although this is great for lifting or removing colour it can be annoying to have a drop of ink accidentally splash onto your finished artwork. The two most common inks nowadays are dye and pigment. These are water-based inks that work for a wide array of applications, going from photography to artwork, billboards, and more. In contrast, pigment inks hold much better into paper and other surfaces. Because they don’t get absorbed but instead adhere to the surface, they can withstand different factors that may affect the paper but not the ink. We think we’ll start small with some paper and card projects and then move onto some ceramic or glass. Anyone can try, experiment and even master alcohol inks. Just like any new medium, you need to take the time to learn how it acts, and how it moves so you can really hone in on your skills and techniques.

Alcohol Ink: Complete Beginners Guide with Supplies

Some people do find the smell of Alcohol Inks unpleasant. When used in large amounts they can have a strong chemical smell. It is important to use your inks in a well ventilated environment. This should prevent a build up of fumes which could otherwise create headaches or other adverse health effects. If a well ventilated room is not available it would be advisable to invest in a respirator mask. This will be useful if you plan on using these inks for any length of time. These should be available from most hardware or DIY shops. The more ventilation in the room you are in, the better. Alcohol-based markers generally have professional quality than their water-based counterparts, making them a better choice for serious artists. And Copic Markers rule the world of alcohol markers. The flexible brush tips work like paintbrushes. Tips are made of nylon fiber that provides a smooth finish without losing the original shape. It has made them super durable, and you can give pressure on the tip according to your need. And the bullet tip is useful for normal writing or drawing fine lines.

To put it in a few words, dye inks offer the best results for temporary jobs, and pigment inks work better for things that need to last. Price This allows pigment inks to be hugely resistant and provide exceptional durability. But this also makes them somewhat dull in color. The best use for dye inks is on photography paper. Because this paper is especially sturdy and resilient, there’s a high chance for the print to last longer than average. And because the paper also looks much better than regular paper, they also tend to hold the color for longer. This variety also tends to be pricier than water markers. Sometimes that’s because they are refillable, or sometimes you need to pay extra cost for the replaceable nibs option. Although the upfront cost is higher, they provide better long-term value for your money. Still, there are some cheap alternatives that you can look after.
