This is simply ‘sRGB’ with reduced brightness. The image is very nicely balanced here with a strong variety and richness of shades – a vivid but natural look. On a more positive note, colour space coverage tests – performed with the same equipment and software but with the screen brightness set to 150 nits – gave me scores that are about the standard you should expect from a display these days. However, they are far south of the 99% and 85% sRGB and DCI-P3 coverage promised:

It only comes with a display port to mini display port cable, so you'll need to get an hdmi or display port cable cable separately.

Nice, crisp images, both when working, working on high quality photos & images, as well as when gaming.

changes allowed us to obtain an optimal hardware starting point and setup before software level changes would be Looking sharp – the UltraSharp 24’s slender bezels and modest design obscure the fact this is a budget monitor Dell UltraSharp 24 Design – Super skinny bezel provides elegant style On the Blu-ray of Star Wars: The Force Awakens things were presented as they should be. Some good intense red and light blue shades for light sabers and good and consistent representation of character skin tones and natural environments. The subtle variation in skin tones was also impressive and aided the natural appearance, with characters gaining an appropriate identity. This contrasts with models with VA or TN panels, whereby shifts in gamma at various points of the screen alter the perceived shade. We also observed the Blu-ray of Futurama: Into the Wild Green Yonder. The strong colour consistency was readily apparent on this title due to it having elements of individual shade that fills much of the screen. This aided the natural variety, with an excellent array of consistently displayed pastel shades. The U2417H (U2417HA) also displayed deep shades and neon shades with a good level of vibrancy – not as striking as we’ve seen on some models, but certainly vivid. The Lagom text appeared a blended grey throughout without obvious green or red tints and certainly no transition between the two. This indicates a low viewing angle dependency to the gamma curve of the monitor, as you’d hope from an IPS-type panel. The image below gives a rough idea of how this test appeared from a normal viewing position. model and HJ version of this screen as you might expect and a little less than the bigger sized screens andGood colour, good viewing angles, style, etc. It is a fantastic monitor with exceptionally slim bezels and amazing colour. This is an effective ‘Low Blue Light’ (LBL) setting. Unlike some settings of this nature, a green tint is not introduced. The image appears noticeably warmer and the blue light output significantly reduced as a result of the weakened blue colour channel. Suitable for relaxing viewing, for example in the evening before bed. As we mentioned the OSD menu gives you a choice from “Standard”, “ComfortView”, “Multiscreen Match”, “Movie”, “Game”, “Color Temperature” and “Custom Color”.

Strong viewing angles and respectable colour space coverage means that for basic photo work – editing holiday snaps and the like – the Dell UltraSharp 24 Monitor U2419H will suffice, but it’s by no means intended for professional photo or video editing. Claiming 99% sRGB and 85% DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage out of the box, the Dell UltraSharp 24 could be a shoe-in for photo and video editing too.On the other side, if you don’t need a stand, but want to mount it to a VESA adapter, you can do so, easily from the same mounting spot as the regular stand. So, all of this is good, but really, the Full HD resolution is not that sharp anymore. Not when we have 1440p panels becoming the standard and 4K monitors flooding the market. Additionally, gaming on this screen is possible, but the experience is not great – there is some ghosting and when you try to counter that with the “Overdrive” option from inside the OSD menu, you can experience severe overshooting and inverse ghosting – even more unpleasant than the blurry image. The contrast performance was largely in-line with the predecessor with static contrast that is about as good as you can expect from an IPS-type panel. The ‘PLS glow’ observed here ate away at some of the detail for dark shades peripherally and was a bit more obvious than the ‘IPS glow’ seen on the U2414H and some other models. This difference, we feel, isn’t something that’s worth stressing about though. Responsiveness was similar if a little weaker than the earlier model, too. There was little input lag to speak of, which is good, and overall the level of perceived blur was much as you would hope for from a 60Hz LCD. There were some weaknesses beyond that, such as a bit of extra blur due to slower than optimal pixel transitions and some slightly ‘dirty’ overshoot trailing in places. As with the ‘IPS glow’ vs. ‘PLS glow’, the predecessor had a slight edge but it isn’t something we think you should let put you off the newer model. power draw in the spec is related to having USB and SoundBar devices connected. Once calibrated the screen reached

We shouldn’t neglect the vertical adjustment, as well. It offers 130mm of total movement. In its bottommost point, the bottom side of the display sits 24.6mm above the foot. With the amount of movement you have in the topmost position, you can turn the display in its side, however, Dell advises against doing so. Instead, you want to tilt the panel upwards and only the pivot. HJ. It does have an updated OSD software though, including an additional response time setting in thethe sRGB colour space. There is some minor over-coverage in most shades but not by anything significant. The ports are down-firing; AC power input (internal power converter), HDMI (plus MHL), DP 1.2a, mDP 1.2a, DP out (for MST Daisy Chaining), 3.5mm audio output, USB upstream and 2 further USB 3.0 downstream ports (4 total). There is an orange plastic port cover over the DP out port which must be removed if you wish to use it. This is to stop you mistaking it for a DP input and wondering why you don’t get a signal when everything is connected up. A DP – MiniDP cable is included in the box along with a power cable. By the way, it is great to see that Dell doesn’t use PWM to adjust the brightness of its display. Another great feature is the ergonomic stand. It offers swivel, tilt and pivot movement, as well as height adjustment. Not only this is good in terms of comfortability, but it is extremely useful for programmers and data specialists, that can utilize the vertical real estate. Still, we’ve included other color spaces like the famous DCI-P3 standard used by movie studios, as well as the digital UHD Rec.2020 standard. Rec.2020, however, is still a thing of the future and it’s difficult for today’s displays to cover that well. We’ve also included the so-called Michael Pointer gamut, or Pointer’s gamut, which represents the colors that naturally occur around us every day.
