zimbogamer My thinking is that's tied to the frame rate too. I think they might have tweaked aiming acceleration so you can aim side to side/top to bottom more smoothly now cuz they didn't want it to look out of place while the game was running at 30FPS (well sub 30 in the case of the PS4 version haha) In the desert wasteland section, it gets more interesting because it introduces a car and zip-line traversal. Making those moments of exploring enemy hideouts more compelling to want to get to, rather than just sprinting to the next main mission.

We've already taken a deep look at Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition on PC and were genuinely impressed with its phenomenal ray tracing - perhaps not surprising when the new 4A Engine is built from the ground up with hardware-accelerated RT hardware in mind. However, the question we could not answer at the time was simple enough: how does that experience translate to the new wave of consoles? Is there enough horsepower on tap to deliver a state-of-the-art 60fps ray tracing showcase? We've now had the chance to test the game on both Xbox Series X and Series S hardware - and the results are excellent. a b Mozuch, Mo (26 June 2018). "Why 'Metro: Exodus' Ditched the Fetch Quest". With these optimisations arriving as a free update, there’s no excuse not to revisit what can only be described as a technical masterclass.I do think the narrative in Metro Exodus gets more right than wrong though. There is a lot of good storytelling in this 15-hour campaign. We are just left with too little in some parts of the game and then too much with the others, which resulted in a tale that was great but unbalanced and poorly paced. gbanas92 the bug I experienced was frustrating but I loaded a save from an hour before and it didn’t happen second time, thank god! Because I’m enjoying it so much I didn’t really mind replaying the same bit again beforehand Not all human survivors are hostile; some may provide valuable information and open up new points of interest, and some may join Artyom's crew. [14] [15] Subtle moral choices in the game provide karma; good karma can be gained by helping non-playable characters, speaking with survivors with Artyom's gun holstered, and sparing enemies who have surrendered. Karma affects the ending the player experiences. [16] Synopsis [ edit ] Setting and characters [ edit ] Dring, Christopher (17 February 2019). Critics generally liked the game's more-open structure. Writing for Game Informer, Matt Bertz praised the diverse biomes in the game, which kept the experience fresh as it introduced new characters, enemies, and factions as players progressed. He described the game's pacing as its "greatest triumph" because none of the large region overstays its welcome. [57] Austin Wood from GamesRadar called the locations in the game "gorgeous" and said he liked the way the linear-story setpieces and open levels complement each other. He chose the two larger levels Caspian Sea and the Volga River as one of the game's strongest points. [56] Michael Higham from GameSpot, however, was disappointed players were not rewarded for exploring the game's world, and that engaging in combat with mutants is a waste of time because they do not drop resources like their human counterparts. Both Bertz and Higham noted Artyom's movement is slow, a problem that is further aggravated by the larger levels. [58] Andy Kelly from PC Gamer praised 4A's approach to open-world design for prioritizing attention to details over size. [60] Winslow, Jeremy (19 November 2019). Nepp67 I think it's just a purely artistic choice, because mechanically I agree it doesn't really help much, but that tactile feeling and knowledge that you the player are the one catalyzing it...warm feelings all over!Development [ edit ] The developers partnered with franchise creator Dmitry Glukhovsky to create the game's narrative. Also, as I reviewed the PlayStation 5 version of the game, this platform and its features will be the focus of this review. However, the free upgrade is out now on PC, Xbox Series S and X, with the PC offering more in terms of ray tracing features, the Xbox Series X being very similar to the PS5 edition, and the Series S version trailing behind whilst still delivering a great looking game. Metro Exodus launched for PlayStation 4 in 2019, and then almost two years later, developer 4A Games announced that it would be getting a native PS5 version. Boasting 4K support at 60 frames-per-second with ray traced lighting, the next-gen edition of Exodus will arrive on the 18th June, 2021. And yes, it's still a completely free upgrade if you already own the game on PS4. Maxwell, Ben (2 June 2018). "The Metro Exodus train will have horrifying consequences". PCGamesN. Retrieved 13 February 2019.We've already discussed 4A Games' marvellous work on Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition on both PC and Xbox Series consoles, but today we can complete the set as we look at the PlayStation 5 version - and it's an absolute treat. Just like all the other versions of the game, it's using the latest rendition of the 4A Engine, rebuilt from the ground up to support hardware accelerated ray tracing, which is used to deliver phenomenally realistic global illumination. And similar to its console brethren, 60 frames per second is the target. Oh and while it's brand new for PlayStation 5, owners of the PS4 version get a free upgrade. Metro Exodus PS5 Review– Metro Exodus was already one of the best post-apocalyptic experiences on PS4, really putting you in the middle of a world devoid of life and left dilapidated. But, 4A Games have upped that with Metro Exodus’ PS5 version, which cleverly uses the DualSense controller to add to the immersion, whilst making everything visually gorgeous thanks to global illumination and ray-tracing. Although I did heap a bit of praise on Metro Exodus when it was originally released for its beautiful baked-in lighting, projected into the game world by light sources that are placed in there by design. This enhanced edition makes use of the new machine’s grunt and offers more realistic light bounce regardless of its source and the game is better for it, with the already top-drawer textures now further standing out with more natural illumination.
