Here's an optional flip-top cap you can "add to car" when shopping for Collinite Insulator Wax No. 845 on the Autogeek.com store. To apply by machine: work at a low speed with no pressure since you are simply applying a product. Use a finessing pad, then buff off with a Microfibre Towel before the products drys. My first experience with Collinite 845 would be layering it over an already cured layer of Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant 3.0. The plan was to layer it on following the instructions on the bottle and after removing the residue, let it cure for 12 hours before layering again. Yes, it was an ambitious detailing project. You can expect up to 5 months of protection and incredible water-beading, even on non-garaged vehicles. Liquid Insulator Wax is in a class all its own when it comes to long-term durability, easy application, and paint enhancement. The liquid car wax was created to insulate electrical components, but it has become one of the foremost liquid car waxes on the market by word-of-mouth of Collinite's very satisfied customers. I’m very careful not to contaminate plastic and rubber trim with wax – so much that I often apply masking tape to the trim to help keep wax off. However, you always have an accident or two. I noticed the Collinite 845 did not make the trim chalky and cloudy where I screwed up and touched the plastic. Nonetheless, I wouldn’t recommend you carelessly spread it over everything. It’s not sun tan lotion.

It gives a deep, glossy finish to the paint and this is why it’s a game-changer for me. The looks are pretty much unrivalled and the closest link that I’ve tested is the Swissvax Best of Show, which is about 10x the price. Now that you're familiar with Collinite's No. 845 Liquid Insulator Wax, let's dive into the basic products necessary to ensure you get the best performance and durability out of the wax. Many people ask "What's the difference between Collinite845 and Collinite476s?" The answer is simple, 845 insulator wax is a liquid version of 476s. Collinite845 is initiallypresented as more of a paste, this then needs to be shaken to begin to restore its more liquid state. For best results, I applied liberally to a panel, then literally spray by cloth with it and work it in. Then take a clean towel and dry/remove it from the paint. Wipe on, wipe off! My weapon of choice is a Lake Country Hydro-Tech Tangerine Polishing pad. If you have ever read any of my other write-ups, you know I'm a huge fan of the Hydro-Tech pads because of their closed cell foam design. Because of their design, the Hydro-Tech pads allow more product to stay on the face of the pad. This equals a longer working time from each respective product along with easier clean up of the pad. Application is easy enough, but it is worth standing this in hot water for a few minutes before you use as it can harden. No problem though, and once it’s been sat it because liquid again. You can see the product has separated out with what I'm guessing is the carrying agent settled to the top while the solids have settled below it. Application is not the easiest with Double Speed and it takes a little bit of work to both apply and remove. I would suggest that you work a panel at a time with it and just take it easy. Thin layers and then buff off with a good quality microfibre buffing towel.

To apply by machine: work at a low speed with no pressure since you are simply applying a product. Use a microfiber bonnet over a lambswool pad to remove Insulator Wax. Apply wax to one section at a time, wait 30 seconds, and then buff. Spreading the wax Because the product is thin but also very WAXY - it spreads out like butter over a hot pancake. That is to say... it spread out EASY! Collinite 845 Insulator Wax is one of the finest heavy duty liquid wax's you can buy. Collinite 845 insulator wax was originally developed over 75 years ago to help protect electrical power companies against electrical issues, fires and explosions - If it stands up to these conditions, Imagine what protection it offers your paint... Trenchfoot, let me provisionally propose the following for your detail, based on the products we have discussed: Collinite 845 Insulator Wax is best suited for lighter colours and those wanting maximum durability. This wax is an absolute steal and is very easy to apply. In the summer, Insulator Wax stands up to the heat and UV rays better than most carnauba waxes. You can even use 845 on boats to guard the hull against salt water oxidation. Now that’s a tough wax! Collinite Liquid Insulator Wax, for example, is one of the finest liquid carnauba waxes you can buy. It has the shine and wetness of carnauba but its longevity is more like a paint sealant. You can expect up to 4-7 months of protection and incredible water-beading, even on non-garaged vehicles. Collinite Liquid Insulator Wax was originally developed for power companies to protect against high voltage power failure, electrical fires, and explosions. If it stands up to these conditions, imagine how well it will protect your vehicle’s paint. If applying by hand, simply wipe on Liquid Insulator Wax using a poly foam applicator. It takes very little to cover each panel. Buff with a soft Microfibre Towel. You will find the wax easiest to remove if you apply a thin coat and do not let it completely haze over before buffing.

It took me about 10 minutes to coat this HUGE car with wax because it spread out so easy and so thin... Hard waxes are used at a slower rate than liquid treatments. We took this into account when factoring in cost, although this played a relatively small role in the verdict. None of the prices here includes delivery costs. VerdictThe 476s is the most durable product offered by Collinite, which is why it requires a little more rubbing and elbow grease. If your bottle has been stored in a cold location and you need to use it, then simply run some hot water at the kitchen sink, fill a bowel or cooking pot, some kind of container with hot water and then place the closed, sealed bottle in the hot water and in just a few minutes it will warm-up and re-liquefy so you can more easily use it. (cold temperatures are not a normal problem here in South Florida)

A few minutes spent applying one of these specialist coatings slows the build-up of brake dust. And then, when it is time to clean up, the grime comes off more easily – often requiring little more than a blast with a pressure washer.OK then. I spread it out over the applicator with my gloved fingers and proceed to apply over, you guessed it, the hood. (The bonnet, for my British friends). If you're not careful, it's easy to accidentally pour out a LOT of wax when using this product because at room temperature, the liquid wax is fairly thin. How difficult is it to apply and remove the wax ? I apply entire car and then remove, for my 845. Can we do at least one panel at a time with 915, in our Indian weather ? I need my car wax to last, look good and also bead like crazy. The latter is not all that important for some, but I simply love those beading shots when the rain has been coming down.
