Description

The exact origins of the Land Speeder Storm is unknown; it sees extensive use by the Ultramarines and Raven Guard, along with their successors, and so is thought to be one of their inventions. Conversely, the Storm is all but unheard of within the armouries of the Space Wolves and Blood Angels. [3] Technical Specifications

Captain in Phobos Armor: B Tier: He has a redeploy ability, but only for Phobos units. Crucially, it's timed such that you'll know who has the first turn before you pop it, so it can be used offensively or defensively. A neat thing to remember is that Invictor Warsuits have the Phobos keyword, so this could be good if Invictors end up being good. The Third Edition of the game was the first time that Land Speeders could be fielded in squadrons of up to three of the vehicles, although the Tornado and Typhoon variants could only be fielded as individual vehicles. With the release of the 4th Edition Space Marine Codex, players were allowed to field different Land Speeder variants in the same squadron. Land Speeders of the Space Wolves Space Marine Chapter dropping from high cliffs to assault enemy forces Out of these many variants those officially recognised by the Adeptus Mechanicus and most commonly employed by Astartes Chapters are featured below:Veteran Marines ( Sternguard Veteran • Vanguard Veteran • Veteran Intercessor • Veteran Assault Intercessor • Bladeguard Veteran) • Terminator Squad • Terminator Assault Squad You can tweak this squad (talking about the whole entry not just my example) however you need it to. They are one of the few entries in this book that can be built as a core focus of a list, or tailored to compliment a core of your list. If your Lion's Blade demi company is a bunch of close range drop pod space marines, maybe you need some long ranged firepower to soften up some targets before they all hit the board. Additionally, if you know you need some anti-horde, giving them heavy flamers and roasting a bunch of charging boys/gaunts, have at it. The LSV makes a great addition as I said earlier, now that you can hide it within the squad (something I always wanted!). Astartes Servitors: C Tier: You probably won't bother with these, but attached to a Techmarine they can provide some cheeky firepower. I list these with characters because they are not worth considering without a Techmarine (and probably still not even with one).

Predator ( Annihilator • Destructor • Baal) • Land Raider ( Phobos • Crusader • Redeemer • Achilles • Prometheus • Terminus Ultra • Ares • Excelsior • Wrath of Mjalnar • Angel Infernus • Solemnus Aggressor • Anvilarum) • Vindicator Laser Destroyer • Repulsor • Repulsor Executioner • Gladiator • Astraeus Sternguard Veteran Squad: A Tier: These guys are nice to have when facing enemy infantry, especially if they can get rerolls to wound. Not honestly sure whether the bolt rifles or combi weapons are better; both have Devastating Wounds, but the combis have Anti-Infantry 4+ and thus will proc them more. The bolt rifles have more shots (in half range), though, and thus are more generally useful (e.g. against non-infantry targets). Terminator Squad: A Tier: Terminators are great, and the shooty variant are great all-around models who are tough and can shoot decently hard. Fury of the First gives great utility to avoid pesky hit/wound modifiers. There are some Space Marine Chapters that use a slightly different non-named pattern of Land Speeder that is equipped with twin-linked Heavy Bolters in place of the single one. During the Great Crusade and the Horus Heresy eras, the Land Speeder could be equipped with different weapons such as switching out its Heavy Bolter for a Heavy Flamer or adding another weapon such as a Havoc Missile Launcher, another Heavy Bolter, a Plasma Cannon, or a Graviton Gun.

A New Generation

The Ravenwing Darkshroud is armed with a Heavy Bolter that can be replaced by the Chapter's Techmarines with an Assault Cannon to further maximise the vehicle's firepower. Its primary weapon, of course, is the Stone Guardian that produces the vehicle's arcane cloak of protective darkness, which is known as the Shroud of Angels. How the relic produces this effect, or what technology is involved, remains unknown at this time.
