From the terminal program's Transfer menu, select the appropriate firmware .bin firmwarefile to transfer via XMODEM-CRC. To do this within HyperTerminal, go to Transfer ->Send File. On the dialog box that pops up, browse the computer for the appropriate firmware .bin file. Once you do that, ensure the selected protocol is XMODEM and then press Send to begin the file transfer. For AP9617/18/19 based devices, the AOS should be transferred first and then the procedure should be repeated for the application file.

NOTE: If you wish to downgrade from v6.X.X to v5.1.X firmware on NMC2, please make sure you review Knowledge Base Article FA167693 prior.Open a terminal session. Configure the terminal session to 2400bps, no parity, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, and no flow control. If you are using HyperTerminal, select Call->Disconnect and then Call->Connect to apply the changes to the serial port. If you are using HyperTerminal select Call ->Disconnect and go to File->Properties->Configure and choose the correct speed.Accept the changes and then to reestablish the connectionchoose theCall menu->Connect to apply changes made to the serial port. NOTE: For usersupgrading (or downgrading) their Network Management Card 2device from v5.X.X tov6.X.X, please review Knowledge Base articleFA167693 to understand several important considerations prior to beginning any of these steps. There are different ways that you can upload the firmware for each device. Please choose a methodthat works best foryou. Find the firmware file. This one is “Network Management Card v6.5.0 Firmware for Symmetra 3-Phase with AP9630/AP9631/AP9635”

Obtain the latest firmware files from apc.com and extract them to a folder. Please note, USB may not allow for a firmware downgrade. You must use a manual method to accomplish a downgrade. Trading In Multiple UPSs: Customers can trade in multiple UPSs for larger UPSs. The VA of the multiple units can be combined, then doubled, to get a maximum VA the customer is eligible to trade up to. Customer cannot trade in UPSs for any single or multiple UPSs of lesser value (VA) than the combined VA of all units traded in. NOTE: Ifyou are interested in upgradingmultiple devices at a time, refer to knowledge baseFA156117. If you have any other type of computer, then you will need to manually upload each firmware file to the Web SNMP/Network Management Card. Go to the XMODEM or Manual sections belowfor additional instructions.

If you made any wrong selections you will have no access and will have to connect a laptop with serial cable (hello 2023!) to fix your error via CLI or reset your NMC3 to factory defaults with a paper clip and reconfigure your NMC3 from scratch. Oh and when APC does decide to upgrade the firmware that is another trip to the CLI. Hilarious. (I work with the CLI from 9-5 in my day job and have no patience for this after work. Your device came pre-loaded with the wrong application and you need to load the correct application. Repeat Steps 3 - 8 again for the application module (sumx for Smart UPS/Matrix, sy for Symmetra, etc). In Step 6, substitute the sumx module file name, in place of the AOS module file name. Or the sy prefix for the Symmetra. bps, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit, and no flow control for initial configuration, 2400 bps for NMC configuration - refer to user's manual for more information NOTE: If your UPS LCD menu doesn't have the Configure NMC: option after putting the UPS LCD menu in Advanced mode, you may have one or more of the following happening:
