On lever handles, there is a grub screw keeping the handle on which will be on the side and sometimes hidden under a small cap.The width is not quite wide enough and the 2 teeth that sit into the groves are a fraction too big. Once you have located the screw you need to remove it with a hex key or screwdriver and the handle will pull off and you can fit the new tap handle. How to Change Taps The tool did the job, and is clearly superior to the plastic version, which failed at the first attempt. However, it *only just* did the job. Please refer to the second image showing the tool designs to confirm this matches the retaining nut you are trying to remove. *** x barrel tool - length 108mm, with a 42mm outer diameter and a 32mm inner diameter. (38mm between the square pin centres).

This will be in the centre of the handle on a crosshead or knob-type handle and hidden under a cover that needs to come off.
