All products carry a minimum one-year guarantee with their respective manufacturer who acts as our service agent through their network of service centres. For those who find the constant deluge of information and notifications from modern smartphones unappealing, a landline is a good way to stay in contact while being slightly ‘off-the-grid’ (though mobile phone manufacturers are aiming for that market too, with the rise of the basic phone. GET THE GUIDE FOR THE KX-TGK222EW on the Web and go to the page that gives codes for various actions. Details are supplied in the original package, but if you need help arranging this please contact us.

We will not be responsible for any items which you send back to us that are lost or damaged in transit, you must obtain your own liability insurance. It works pretty seamlessly (though setting it up is a bit of a faff) and, don’t worry, contacts you’ve already got saved in your phonebook will be directed straight through. With this Panasonic cordless system, up to four smartphones or tablets can be registered to the base station, over Wi-FI, using the Smartphone Connect app (available for both iOS and Android) on your mobile. It can be set to ring once, or every day, with the option of three, five and 10-minute snooze intervals. This stylish pack of four handsets boasts an advanced feature specification with plenty of personalisation options when it comes to ringtone, display screensaver and sound profiles.

There’s also a 150-name phonebook and an integrated answering machine with 30 minutes recording capacity. But as long as landlines are bundled with broadband packages, most of us seem happy to keep the humble dog and bone, even if it now plays second fiddle to our smartphones.

Then again, most of us will have a mobile phone as a back-up, so a corded phone is still probably not necessary for the vast majority of people. With clear sound, you’ll never miss a message again, and there’s also the option to record your own personalised greeting. The text on the screen is also large enough to be easily legible and the few menu buttons are self-explanatory enough.

Boasting a unique shape, the KX-TGK222EM is as much a design statement as it is an excellent cordless phone. I marginally preferred the look and functions of the Panasonic, which is why the BT models come second in my list – but we’re talking degrees of difference rather than a gulf. Those looking for a solid phone to sit in their kitchen will find it simple enough, and those who want something a little more elaborate will find plenty to dig into. Also, unlike most of the other phones on this list, the blacklist is extensive, allowing you to block hundreds of numbers, rather than the poxy 20 or 30 on most of these phones.

Comparing the quality of these cordless phones with my desk phone which has a cord, I didn’t notice any real difference. This is actually something that Google launched on its brand new Pixel 3 recently, but BT have been doing it for much longer. The handset is nice and chunky but probably slightly heavier than most of the other devices on this list. As a family-run company, our industry experience spans generations, and we are excited to be currently celebrating 40 years trading.
