Description

As part of the C-Series, you can link together several speakers for effortless, multi-room sound. Controlled via a dedicated app, setting a multi-speaker system up around your home is easy. Thanks to Internet connection via Wi-Fi, there’s no need for any wires between rooms, either. Even more impressively, you can incorporate old Bluetooth-only Addon speakers*, by using a C3, C5 or C10 as a parent speaker. (*Audio Pro ADDON Link 1 required for function support).

Living with the app is a slightly different proposition, though. In some ways it’s simple –‘drag and drop’ to partner or separate speakers, either in stereo pairs or multi-room zones, and tweak the bass and treble at your leisure. But it can be a little buggy, and is certainly limited compared to most rival systems. Unsurprisingly, that’s one of the first things that jumps out when we switch the A10 on. We love the directness of its siblings, but the versatility and sheer spread of sound here is to be admired. It doesn’t have quite the unwavering focus, nor the sheer weight in the low end, but we can move around our test room and still be treated to the same high quality sound. Audio Pro CCO Jens Henriksen claims the product name was chosen to indicate “the same winning concept as before, only better”. The original has undergone a few tweaks, rather than wholesale change: it keeps its pair of 2cm tweeters, split by a 9cm woofer, as well as its familiar boombox-style chassis, but carries a redesigned reflex port to the rear for optimised bass response. This product has an impressively high-quality sound that is well-balanced and robust. The speaker is great for listening to music or viewing movies in small to medium-sized rooms due to its powerful sound and expansive soundstage. Connectivity and Features Earlier on we mentioned that there are four preset buttons on top of the Addon C3. These save both internet radio stations and individual playlists, putting all your favourite content right at your fingertips. We saved BBC 6Music to one of them, and a few different genre-themed Spotify playlists to the others. One of its most notable characteristics is the speaker’s capacity to fill a room with sound. Two cloth dome tweeters measuring 3/4 inches and a 3.5-inch long-throw woofer work together to provide rich, full sound from this speaker. Also, the woofers’ dual magnet technology ensures a distortion-free, powerful bass performance, even at high levels. The Addon C3 has a 9cm woofer, it measures 10cm on the Addon C5 and Addon C5A, while the Addon C10 has the largest at 13cm. The power output from the Class D digital amplification rises in similar increments: 15W, 40W and 80W respectively.

As the Addon C10 is to the Addon C3, similarly the Drumfire’s better-honed talents run further than the added power and bottom end over its family members – it is again a step up in terms of performance across the board. The dual 20mm textile dome tweeters and 13cm long-throw woofer that helped make the original such a sonic class-leader remain, but the tweeter grilles are now flush with the front baffle rather than slightly bulging. This device is an aesthetically pleasing speaker that will complement any decor. It’s a discreet speaker that can match any aesthetic thanks to its understated design and variety of color options. Also, the high-quality materials used in its construction guarantee the speaker’s longevity and robust performance. Sound Quality

Design & build

The original C10 was a multi-Award winner, so the fact the MkII manages to improve on its sound quality at all is nothing short of a miracle. The MkII's updated port design results in noticeable gains through the low end, while bass is marginally cleaner and tighter. The performance is a touch more expansive too, particularly through the lower registers. C10 is something you don’t move sound often. The large speaker is superior to the others in terms of sound quality and loudness. It is for audiophiles and enthusiasts. It will go well in a large room where it will fit perfectly. In the middle is the C5 with its all-around performance. It has a small enough footprint but also performs well and gives a good bass response. It is perfect for people who want a good speaker but don’t want to break the bank. But it’s important to point out the Audio Pro is far from the most limited multi-room app out there, and its occasional bug and rudimentary nature is forgivable when you consider the price and sound quality of the speakers it's controlling. This speaker also excels at creating an expansive soundscape. The speaker produces clean, distortion-free sound even at high levels using а proprietary digital Class-D amplifier technology developed by Audio Pro. Also, digital signal processing (DSP) technology is incorporated into the speaker to further improve the quality and balance of the output signal. The Audio Pro Addon C5 is a new addition to the brand’s multiroom lineup. It’s undeniably a trendy speaker, but does it sound as well as it looks? I think it does sound well. From our experience, we can say that this speaker holds the reputation of Audio Pro. You won’t be disappointed with its performance.
