Roboute and the Ultramarines were beset by treachery from the very start of the Horus Heresy. First, Horus sidelined them in the Veridian System at the outbreak of the civil war, then Lorgar and his Word Bearers betrayed them at Calth, irradiating the planet and slaughtering the Ultramarines in their thousands.

They succeeded. Through a series of fateful missteps and happenstances, Horus became mortally wounded and was healed only by a Chaos cult ritual in the Temple of the Serpent Lodge on Davin. In the process, he effectively pledged his allegiance to the four chaos gods Nurgle, Slaanesh, Tzeentch, and Khorne– and when he returned to his legion, he began hispreparations to make civil war against the Emperor: what would become known as the Horus Heresy. Additionally, you have the option to model Guilliman with his head bare, emanating an air of command, or with a particularly aggressive-looking helmet, both accompanied by an ornate wreath. As the Great Rift's cataclysmic birth following the fall of Cadia disrupted interstellar travel and communications and the Noctis Aeterna closed like a shroud upon the galaxy, Guilliman moved swiftly to stabilise the faltering Imperium. He turned to Belisarius Cawl once more to complete a plan that had been over 10,000 standard years in the making, since the end of the Horus Heresy and Guilliman's last tenure as the Imperium's lord commander. The oratory and vision with which their new-found primarch expounded to them his designs for the future and the righteousness of the Great Crusade filled the Legiones Astartes with a renewed vigiour and dispelled any shadows of doubt in their minds, and made Guilliman's takeover, according to official records, all but seamless.Sam: “ Angron was one of the most difficult as he was the first. We had no idea how he would be received, as we were dealing with one of the most iconic figures in the Imperium’s history. We needed to set the scale in relation to the rest of the miniature range, plus we had to get across the brutality of Angron and the sense that he was unstoppable. John Blanche’s iconic artwork was the starting point, mixed with gladiatorial details.” Fulgrim, Primarch of the Emperor’s Children The warrior who acts out of honour cannot fail. His duty is honour itself. Even his death - if it is honourable - is a reward and can be no failure, for it has come through duty. Seek honour as you act, therefore, and you will know no fear. Named Illyrium, it was a barbarous land of outcasts and petty, warring micro-states that had long harboured brigands and mercenaries who raided more civilised lands as often as they hired themselves as foot soldiers to fight their neighbours' wars. To him, a military force was more than the warriors who wielded arms -- it was their chain of supply, the ships which carried them between, the manufactora which supplied their munitions and the worlds which bred their recruits; they were indivisible and equally vital. To Guilliman's mind, all of these things made a Space Marine Legion, and he meant to control them all so that his own would prosper and the Emperor's will be done. Sam: “ Dorn is in a very stoic, ‘none shall pass’ pose, which conveys the idea of him being the last line of defence for Terra. He stands defiant against the enemies of the Imperium, with his hands on the pommel of his chainblade, Storm’s Teeth. The bulk of the design was taken from John Blanche and Neil Roberts’ artwork, and his Auric Armour is based on Mk IV plate adorned with Imperial eagles and Imperial Fists iconography.” Alpharius, Primarch of the Alpha Legion

Sam has described the Jaghatai Khan miniature as “grounded and confident” – a perfect mix of aggression and restraint – as well as providing loads more info on how this staggering miniature was designed. So much indeed, that we gave the Khan his own article – a must-read for fans of the White Scars and miniature design. The Imperium and the holy God Emperor have many enemies, both within and without, and loyal citizens need only concern themselves with knowledge that’s necessary to perform their functions. Ultimately, Guilliman was able to set course for Holy Terra. Travelling at maximum speed, his Legion was only hours away along with several other Legions [Needs Citation]. This ultimately decided the Imperium's fate when Horus was forced to gamble by letting the Emperor teleport onto his Battle Barge. [Needs Citation]. Base with Retributor Armor – This part can be pretty time consuming, but it pays to be careful so you don’t have to do touch ups. Using Lahium Medium can help this part significantly. He is a high achiever. He knows this about himself. Sometimes it feels like a fault that he has to excuse to his brothers, but then he feels guilty for making excuses... He writes a great deal. He codifies everything. Information is power. Technical theory is victory... He uses a stylus by choice, recording in his own handwriting. The child was brought before Konor Guilliman, one of a pair of nobles who bore the title "consul", whose authority governed the most civilised and powerful region of Macragge, and Konor adopted the infant as his own son in a manner not uncommon to his culture, naming him Roboute. Under Guilliman's leadership they became arguably the most strategically gifted and tactically balanced of all the Legiones Astartes. Working on the basis of theoretical situations and practical solutions, the Ultramarines fought with exceptional efficiency. They drove the foes of Humanity before them, their armies fighting like intricate and perfectly tuned machines to swiftly and decisively outmanoeuvre every foe. Theoriginal exception to this was Alpharius Omegon – who was always assumed to be around the size of a regular warrior of the Alpha Legion, allowing him to operate incognito as just another Alpha Legionary (it helps that they all claimed to be Alpharius at all times anyway).

It is the great irony of the Legiones Astartes: engineered to kill to achieve a victory of peace that they can then be no part of. I’m not a fan of the more purple wax/electrum/whatever purity seals the studio paints these days so instead I go for the nice striking red of Khorne Red base shaded with agrax layered with Mephiston Red with a general highlight of Wild Rider Red and a point highlight of Troll Slayer Orange which provides an eye-catching colour for purity seals to be the accent pieces they generally are.

Where are the primarchs now?

There have been some who have suggested that the Emperor's arrival at Espandor and the isolated region so far from the frontline of the Great Crusade's main spur of progress was no accident, and that by some arts He had perceived or had foreknowledge of what He would find. Lorgar of Colchis. You may consider the following. One: I entirely withdraw my previous offer of solemn ceasefire. It is cancelled, and will not be made again, to you or to any other of your motherless bastards. Two: you are no longer any brother of mine. I will find you, I will kill you, and I will hurl your toxic corpse into hell's mouth. In the wake of the Battle of Lion's Gate, Guilliman gathered the greatest fleet of Imperial warriors that had been seen since the Great Crusade. The largest component of this force included a massive new host of hundreds of thousands of Primaris Space Marines, divided half into new Chapters of the Adeptus Astartes and half into 9 Space Marine Legion-sized formations known as the Unnumbered Sons. The warrior who acts out of honour cannot fail. His duty is honour itself. Even his death -- if it is honourable -- is a reward and can be no failure, for it has come through duty. Seek honour as you act, therefore, and you will know no fear."
