Description

In the distant future, society has all but eliminated the need for a human workforce. Thanks to an all-powerful AI network known collectively as Titan, humanity is now free to indulge in an era of unprecedented peace and prosperity. But one day, hobbyist psychologist Seika Naisho gets a job offer from a mysterious man by the name of Narain Srivastava–one of only a handful of people in the entire world who is still traditionally employed. He wishes to enlist Seika's expertise in the wake of a sudden and inexplicable malfunction in the AI network: as a therapist for Titan itself. Ridiculously Cute Critter: Benkei, the baby Troodon Suzume is temporarily charged with taking care of. Suzume can't help but be overwhelmed by how cute he is when she first sees him. However, it doesn't last, as Benkei proved quite the troublemaker. Friend to All Children: In her Establishing Character Moment, she consoles some schoolchildren terrified by the zoo's Giganotosaurus and helps them gain a new perspective on dinosaurs, in contrast to the other zoo staff, who find themselves unsure what to do with the frightened kids. The human side of the story in Dinosaur Sanctuary is a workplace drama. Suzume is very idealistic about dinosaurs, and her bright-eyed enthusiasm means that she can almost serve as an audience self-insert for some readers. Sometimes her idealism clashes with the harsh realities of caring for a whole zoo full of unpredictable animals with demanding husbandry requirements. Though at the same time, her fresh perspective and enthusiasm can offer innovative ways of attracting visitors to Dinoland. While all the staff at Enoshima Dinoland care about the well-being of the dinosaurs there, their philosophies and priorities differ due to their respective personalities and life experiences. This, along with the constant financial demands of running a dinosaur zoo, is ultimately the source of interpersonal drama and conflicts throughout this series. Dinoman, a TV series that stars a humanoid Triceratops and is being rebooted as a movie series. Suzume is a big fan of it.

Danica Davidson of Otaku USA praised the story, characters, and extra notes from Fujiwara, noting that " Dinosaur Sanctuarydoes a good job of making [dinosaurs] like animals with personalities, rather than monsters in a monster movie". [13] Jonathan Greenall of Comic Book Resources praised the tone and art style. Additionally, Greenall felt the series does a good job of describing how to care for animals. [14] J. Caleb Mozzocco of School Library Journal also praised the artwork and characters. Mozocco felt the plot was "[ Jurassic Park but] the park works like it wassupposed to". [15] This was really good! (Even though I was surprised by how scientific it was even if in hindsight the blurb obviously says that. LOL!) There's a friggin triceratops named Masaru that loafs like a cat! I loved him so much, Masaru had to be my fave dino from the first volume. I kinda want a Masaru plush lol. Friend to All Children: Suzume. In her Establishing Character Moment, she consoles some schoolchildren terrified by the zoo's Giganotosaurus and helps them gain a new perspective on dinosaurs, in contrast to the other zoo staff, who find themselves unsure what to do with the frightened kids.Kids Love Dinosaurs: The manga opens with a young Suzume enchanted with the dinosaur fossils at an exhibit. Beaming with happiness, she turns to her father and expresses her wish to grow up to become a dinosaur caretaker. Dinosaurs also prove popular with the groups of children who visit Enoshima Dinoland. Imprinting: When dinosaurs hatch, zookeepers have to pose as their respective species so the hatchlings can recognize their birth parents. However, Benkei the Troodon hatchling sees an un-costumed Suzume upon opening his eyes, so he imprints on her.

Insufferable Genius: While he's incredibly competent in veterinary practice, he's also condescending, arrogant and mean-spirited.Plot-Triggering Death: Her own death and her killing of Yamaga basically led to interest in dinosaurs dying out overnight and leading to most dino parks and sanctuaries being in financial struggles.

The name Troodon is used here with Enoshima's Niko and Vena, despite the name having been rendered scientifically dubious following an extensive re-examination of Troodon fossils reassigning the vast majority of material to Stenonychosaurus (which had been previously sunk into the Troodon genus in the 1980s). Gentle Giant: When he's calm, it's easy to see that he's a huge softie, and enjoys laying in his favorite place and eating his favorite treats. Seven Seas will release the first volume of Niiro Ikuhana's Imaginary manga in August. The company describes the manga:Adventures of Pachymaru, an anime that stars a Pachycephalosaurus who engages in headbutting fights with other pachycephalosaurs. Hidden Depths: After Suzume figures out the reason behind Hachibei's repeated injuries - and notices him having mild pneumonia that even the doctor missed (since it only flares up in the rain) - he admits he may have been wrong about her. Extinct Animal Park: The eponymous Enoshima Dinoland is a small struggling zoo that hosts about two dozen species of dinosaur note technically nineteen non-avian dinosaurs, four pterosaur, and one plesiosaur, ranging from small herbivores to giant carnivores. The series focuses on the day-to-day business of running the place, which is not too different from what real-life zoos deal with when it comes to their animals. Stronger Than They Look: Despite being the park's smallest theropod species, they're quite strong, as Suzume finds out. In 1946, someone discovered an island where dinosaurs had survived into the present. Through breeding and genetic manipulation, humans managed to increase their population and supercharge their popularity! Until, well...the unfortunate accident, when people's attitudes soured on the idea of visiting dinosaurs. This story follows a rookie zookeeper who is newly hired at Enoshima Dinoland, a struggling Dinosaur Sanctuary, and the fascinating creatures who need specialized love and care!
