Description

Breastfeeding with your baby in a sling or carrier is not always possible for everyone and will depend on your baby?s stage and their preferred feeding position, your body shape and the positions possible in the carrier you are using. Do give it a try if you?d like to, but don?t be discouraged if it doesn?t work easily for you at first. You may find it works better when your baby is older.

Here’s a real-life demonstration with 8-week-old Jules, in our fab Izmi Baby Wrap. He’s getting quite sleepy, probably ready for a bit of a feed. In this video, Mel is going to go ahead and show you one option of how you can feed in a stretchy wrap. The body panel width of Izmi Toddler Carriers extend from 32cm-49cm (13"-19") and they have been weight tested from 8kg-27kg (17.6-60lbs). We recommend Izmi Toddler Carriers from around 7 months to 4 years. There have been lots of near-identical versions of the Caboo over the years, but this Organic version has the softest and best quality fabric.

As an alternative to a single twin carrier, some twin parents do wear two Ergobaby carriers, two Tulas, two Manducas and so on. If you’ve already got a couple to hand then give it a whirl! It will likely feel very cumbersome with four padded shoulder straps and two passed waistbands, but it’s not impossible. TOP TIP: Most baby wraps have an upper weight limit of around 10-12kg (22-28lbs). But once your baby is 4 – 5 months old, most families will find a more structured baby carrier much more supportive, especially for longer walks. You can wear babies on your front in the carrier from 10lbs upwards, or as little as 7-8lbsusing the infant insert. The TwinGo has an upper weight limit of 40lb (18kg) if you’re wearing one baby, or a combined weight limit of 70lb (32kg) when used as a tandem carrier. In very cold weather: as above, with a coat or other warm layer around both of you. Avoid bulky snowsuits to prevent overheating. Keeping your baby close to your body, without bulky fabric between you, will make you more aware of how warm or cool they are. When you head indoors you can easily undo your coat to help prevent them - and you - from overheating.

The Caboo + Organic comes in two parts – the first you simply pop over your head like a t-shirt, before adjusting the size using the two sets of rings.Sam Kennedy says: I honestly really wouldn't change a thing about the Izmi Baby Wrap, it's perfect just the way it is. It's comfy to wear on long walks and around and baby agrees. Although the price tag is quite high, it's comparable to most on the market and is reflected in the quality of the fabric. I absolutely love it! If you’re in the market for two carriers that will do a similar job to the TwinGo, using two MiniMonkey Mini Slings, two Integra baby carriersor two Izmi baby carrierscan work particularly well. Don’t be put off by the generous size of the fabric wrap; with a bit of practice, they really are easy to use. One of their best features is the ability to pre-tie them around you, so you can simply pop your babies in and out, whether you’re at home or getting in and out of the car. One crucial point to remember is that you should never let your baby fall asleep in this position. Their airways could be compromised, so it's essential to reposition them upright in the sling after feeding, no matter how tempting it is to leave them snoozing.

Jessica Molyneux spence says: I would choose the Izmi baby wrap over others because the material is really good quality and supportive. Even for older babies, it still keeps them in place and doesn't stretch which would resulting in them sinking down. This means I don't need to keep taking baby out to readjust, which I have had to do with other brands. I can put it on in the morning and it will still be fine when I've finished wearing it for the day.

For a double hippy carry, you could also try using two MiniMonkey Mini Slings or Izmi baby Carriers, as these can also be used separately and for a tandem carry (see below). ABOUT THE WEEGO TWIN CARRIER months: Parent-facing front carry or side/hip carry (your baby can stabilise their head unaided as you move around. Your carrier should support their spine at least to the top of their shoulders) Carys Lewis says: I think the Izmi Wrap would really benefit Mums of newborns to have the most as it allows the closeness which newborns thrive on. I did not use it for breastfeeding as my baby was a bit too big to get the positioning right but I could see it would be big benefit to use for younger and smaller babies. There is a limited timeframe on how long the wrap can be used for however which might not make it suitable for all if budgets were tight. With minimal padding on the shoulders and none at all on the waistband, this combination offers a less bulky (and sweaty) ride than most double-up alternatives. Simply tie the wrap tightly around your body and pop your baby in and out during the day. You can breastfeed in all these wraps, too. (Here’s more on breastfeeding in slings).

These wraps are super easy to get the hang of. You might need a few tries to get your wrap tied perfectly, but it’ll soon be easy as tying your shoelaces. Tightening your carrier (usually) or loosening it (sometimes) just a few centimetres here and there can make a vast difference. As can positioning the waistband higher up on your body. The clue is in the name: it’s a WAISTband, not a hip belt. Our Didymos DoubleFace long woven wraps have contrasting colours on either side, making them ideal for those new to wrapping, and don’t require any breaking in. But there are a vast number of woven wrap brands and designs to explore. It will depend a lot on your anatomy and how you fit together. So depending on the length of your torso, the size of your breasts, and the position of your nipples, all sorts of things will vary. months: Parent-facing front carry or side/hip carry (your baby has good torso control and can sit unaided.
