AnonymousIt's a very beautiful song it drives me to tears every time I hear it it helps me feel a connection a spiritual connection Zephyr from Olympia, WaI wasn't surprised to learn that Chris got the idea for this song from Reading "Creative Dreaming" (by Patricia Garfield). I read that book years ago and found it very informative on the subject of how to remember dreams and lucid dreams. I started having lucid dreams shortly after reading that book. Lucid dreams are wonderful experiences because you are "awake in the dream." In this beautiful song I see it take this a step farther....the guide or guardian is asking their charge to be awake in the dream of life. Not literal dreams but Life itself. To become more fully conscious. And from that state to create the reality around them without doubt or fear. Such a truly noble goal in life but one that is rarely chosen. I cry every time I hear this song because it touches a deep longing within me to reach beyond this blind and ignorant human condition. There is a place is me that knows there is so much more we are capable of if only we can break the bonds of fear and limiting beliefs. In retrospect, the song’s creation seems like a turning point for Queensrÿche. “Silent Lucidity” turned out to be a tremendous commercial success, giving them mainstream recognition and reinforcing their artistic identity as a band that didn’t shy away from intricate and profound themes.

Lynsey from United States My sister and I found comfort in this song from the moment we heard it first. Our beloved brother had died at 19 years old, having taken his own life some years before. We wrote “I’m smiling next to you “ on countless greeting cards over the years as a message of comfort to each other. She dedicated this song to me at her wedding. When she died and then our mom, i interred then together with our dad and brother and inscribed the lyric on their headstone. I miss them every day but this song still makes me feel close to them , even now . Thank you Queensryche for writing it . Sincerely from the Reed family. Silent Lucidity is a tribute to the power of lucid dreaming. The song’s lyrics describe a person who is struggling to cope with their problems in the waking world. In their dreams, however, they find solace and peace. The dreamer is aware that they are dreaming, and as a result, they can shape their own reality. My friend has a limited time left on this planet, she knows it, and has made peace with herself, showing so much strength I can only admire her. As I read through the lyrics, and watched theor souls being released from their bodies, there were three avenues of thought. One, it was written in the first person.....two, it was penned in the second person......and three, the third.........a higher power......a supreme being.......a higher intelligence.....Divine intervention....( God if you are a believer)......I have broken down every time I have heard or played this song since..... i do omow this.....it helped me cope with what I know will be an inevitable outcome.....to accept a beautiful friends demise....to question ones own beliefs.....to heal. AnonymousI have always loved this song, nowhere than ever. The lyrics have brought me great comfort with how it talks about the game of life being over and comforting a child. My son recently passed away, leaving behind a sweet baby for me to love. I had the words from the song, "a soul set free to fly" placed on my son's grave marker. Truly he was set free from his long term illness. I love, love, love this song and the comfort it brings me. The B List: Favorite Hair-Metal Power Ballads". GlideMagazine. 4 January 2007 . Retrieved 2023-06-07. Living twice at once, you learn / You’re safe from pain in the dream domain / A soul set free to fly.” This imagery sums up the whole idea behind the song – the power of lucid dreams to provide a safe space for introspection and self-growth, making it a powerful tool for emotional healing and self-empowerment. Karen from UsaWow, everyone has so many strong stories attached to this song. It is my absolute favorite song ever, and that's saying something with my eclectic taste in music.

Florida Pat from Lauderdale-by-the-sea, FlThe symphonic strings literally bring me to tears. So much depth and emotion, and then add the timbre of Geoff's voice. He continued: "That song almost didn't make the record. It wasn't completed until the very end, and it didn't have any of the orchestra; it was just vocals and guitar. And the producer that we worked with at the time, Peter Collins, didn't think that it was a very completed idea, and he thought it should be saved for another record [so] we could get more time to complete it. But we pursued it and made it happen and put it on the record, and I'm glad we did, 'cause it definitely has made an impact." Here it is, another chance / Wide awake, you face the day, your dream is over / Or has it just begun?” These lines transition from the dream state to waking reality, and yet, they blur the line between the two, implying that the real introspective journey has just started. The song then touches upon the concept of breaking down self-imposed limitations and the liberation that comes with it, “The walls you built within / Come tumbling down, and a new world will begin.” These lines reflect on the transformative power of self-realization achieved through lucid dreaming. William from Streetsboro, OhThere is a sound clip in the middle of the song containing the line, "How we feeling here, better?" That line actually comes from Hellraiser, spoken by he doctor I believe towards the middle of the film.So here it is, another chance, wide awake you face the day. The dream is over, or has it just begun....? Thank you Chris Degarmo for writting such a beautiful song. Thank you Geoff Tate for your golden vocals, and thank you to the rest of the band and engineers who made this song timeless.

Jennifer from Connecticut My first child, who was born in 1991, and is now 25 years old - was driven home from the hospital while this song played on the radio of my car. It resonates in our lives, to the exact timing and precisely dictates how both of our lives panned out. I was 19 when I had her. I protected her from her abusive father. I am about to become an RN BSN, and I'll protect her in the night. I'm smiling next to many. In silent lucidity? TODAY IS HIS BIRTHDAY. Nicholos from Farmville, VaThis kinda reminds me of Pink Floyd too Big Ed. This song is epic and so is Queensryche and this whole album.
