Charlie, in a moment out of Rear Window, finds reason to suspect that his new next door neighbor, casual viewers of the film (such as myself) won't notice (I did not), longtime aficionados will certainly note that something is amiss. Fortunately, the 5.1 Inside, the digital copy code floats. The three discs, one UHD and two Blu-ray, are presented in this way: one disc on its own hub on the left and two

First off, there are several roundtable discussions that play like outtakes from You’re So Cool, Brewster!, as well as some panel discussions and screening Q&As. Then there are a couple of brand new pieces: a lengthy 35th anniversary table read of the film’s screenplay, an enjoyable featurette on the novelization process (as well as the recent reprint of the Fright Night novel by Encyclopocalypse Publications), and a truly fascinating conversation between Hannibal creator Bryan Fuller and actor Amanda Bearse about the gay subtext and context of the film that really digs deep into the material. Overall NEW A Novel Approach: The Splatterpunk of the Novelization (HD, 8 min) has Holland, John Skipp and Craig Spector reminiscing on the novel version of the script.

This is a solid looking high-definition catalog release that presents this 30 plus year old film in a positive light. It boasts clean, well depicted primary colors and a good mix of secondary hues that mate well with the source material. Resolution is discerning with varying degrees of delineation that reveal subtle textures found in physical features and coarse patterns that make up the various interior settings featured in the film. Sharpness is primarily stable with lucid clarity which enhances depth. According to the press documentation Sony remastered Fright Night from the original 35mm film elements, and that same 4K restoration was used for the 1080p rendering. Sony has re-released the cult favorite 1985 Horror film 'Fright Night' to the UHD format. New specifications include 2160p/Dolby Vision video and of the film's stars, chat up the film in detail and its impact on and embrace by the queer community. Looking at the film's opening moments, beginning with the long panning shot outside of Charlie’s house, the improvement in depth and delineation is noticeable but, not staggering. Once inside his bedroom, things do get better. Grain is intact, occasionally rising to more obvious levels but, never to a distracting point. With the majority of story taking place at night or indoors, Fright Night isn’t an overtly bright film, although there are bright elements. The cinematography benefitted from the enhanced resolution and warmer chromatic accents. In many respects, the image is emboldened with a discernible boost to definition. While the increase in resolution isn't always on display, I believe that the majority of this is innate to the photography (there may have been a few minor digital touchups that I didn’t find compromising). The wide-angle shots that take place in the diner and around town looked very good.Dolby Atmos audio. Plenty of new extras are included in addition to all of the legacy Blu-ray supplements. Sony previously released the film to Blu-ray in 2019, a release that followed on a With that said, this is bound to be the definitive release of an iconic film. This limited-edition set will almost certainly be the standard to which all future Fright Nightreleases are compared. This is a lovingly crafted offering, full of bonus features. And I’m not just talking about the typical legacy features ported over from a previous DVD or Blu-ray bow. This release is comprised of some next level content. Included is one disc with a 4K remaster of the feature, a disc with a 1080p transfer of the film (and a bevy of bonus content), and a third disc stuffed with even more extras! streetlamp.
