All I was saying that no, kickboards don't prevent drafts but if there is air flow, having a gap in the kickboard now can mean it is being felt more sensitively by feet whilst in the kitchen. I doubt the gap is that big and you normally can't see the top of the kickboard unless you put your head on the floor.
